About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in (1997) and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.

Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

Great Escape is their best album in my view.

Seriously though, how can anyone compare them to Oasis? Blur's music is so much more technical than theirs ever was. Blur forever.

LYRICS:

[Verse 1]
Bow bells say goodbye to the last train
Over the river, they all go again
Out into leafy nowhere
Hope someone's waiting out there for them
Cabbie has his mind on a fare to the sun
He works nights but it's not much fun
Picks up the London yo-yo's
All on their own down Soho, take me home

[Chorus]
Other people wouldn't like to hear you
If you said that these are the best days of our lives
Other people turn around and laugh at you
If you said that these are the best days of our lives

[Verse 2]
Trellick Tower's been calling
I know she'll leave me in the morning
In hotel cells, listening to dial tones
Remote controls and cable moans
In his drink, he's talking
Gets disconnected sleepwalking back home

[Chorus]
Other people wouldn't like to hear you
If you said that these are the best days of our lives
Other people turn around and laugh at you
If you said that these are the best days of our lives
Of our lives

[Instrumental break]

[Chorus]
Other people wouldn't like to hear you
If you said that these are the best days of our lives
Other people turn around and laugh at you
If you said that these are the best days of our lives
Other people break into a cold sweat
If you said that these are the best days of their lives
And other people turn around and laugh at you
If you said that these are the best days of our lives
Of our lives

This song is so bittersweet, it’s comforting, happy and sad at the same time

this song is an absolute masterpiece. it’s so beautiful. grahams backing vocals and his guitar verses are absolutely incredible and soothing. he is a genius. this song is very special to me like beetlebum and you’re so great because it gives the same sorta feeling (nostalgia for some reason along with sadness and happiness for some reason). when i hear this i think back to like when blur was young making all these songs in the studio and stuff. but now they don’t do that anymore. perhaps that’s why it’s sad to me. anyways blur is one of the best things to come into my life and i want to thank them for just simply existing. #Blurforever

I recall it coming out in 1995 just before I turned 15, it was always my favorite song once you got past the madness of Country House

Im discovering this now as a 23 year old, its so relatable, I found out about them because I came across his face as a young guy and i straight up lost my mind. But this song is so beautiful the mention of tech, the overwhelming knowledge that I am in fact living the BEST days of my life this far. Its also the realization of needing to be in the present to experience them. Sung so beautiful by baby boy albarn ugh

3:25 reminds me of the organ part of the Beatles’s ‘In My Life’

Their finest record. Beatles's In My Life mashed with Kinks' outsider life observation with a doses of Albarn brilliance. Note the Chas and Dave ending to the piano solo. Gold
