From a guy who has owned a 3V mustang since I purchased it new in 2005 let me explain. There was zero competition for the mustang. I was a die hard Chevy guy and when I wanted to buy a new car all Chevrolet had in 2005 was an LS1 (not LS2) an LS1 GTO, which weighted more, was a bit slower, and cost $10, 000 more money. (and was less visually appealing IMO) I can remember talking with other car guys about how it looked like a $40, 000 GrandAm. The main competition for the 3 valve mustang was the older but still very awesome WS6 TransAm, which it ran pretty much door to door with if both were left stock, or maybe intake/tune type cars. The 3v mustang was the right car for it's day. It was on par with the TransAm, looked better than the GTO and destroyed the heavy Dodge Chargers which made around 350hp (crank) and weight like 4k+ lbs. It is easy for people to be like "Oh you should have just bought a coyote 6 years before it existed". Ford kept that quiet, I remember my best friend buying a 2010 4.6 mustang having no clue what was around the corner. The coyote only became a thing because Ford finally had competition from the newly re-released Camaro and faster Chargers / Challengers becoming a thing. You had to be there to really understand how great these cars were. They didn't out sell literally everything in that price range for no reason. Even after buying other cars, I still love my 3 valve and have no plans to ever get rid of it.

An unmolested Mustang GT that old is a rare find in itself.

From a visual perspective, best looking modern Mustang. My opinion.

The only problem with buying older GT Mustangs is finding one that hasn’t had the wee beat out of it.

2005-2009 is my favorite Generation of Mustangs. It has echoes of the 60s, but it's modern

Wow, $2000 and you can damn near completely transform the car. Makes me want to buy one of these even more lol, though I don't think they'd be nearly as clean as that one! Kudos to the owners for taking such good care of it, and for deciding to bring the car to life so many years later!

Back during the financial crisis in 2009 I bought a 2006 with dealer installed Roush SC for 13k OUT THE DOOR. 475 HP version. Should never have sold it.

Thanks for throwing some 3v love our way. Obviously they're way under powered, but I think you can admit (6:54) they sure do sound nice. Those power numbers are near exactly what my build was putting down after a Bama tune and CAI (292/307). Also, the color is actually Tungsten Gray.

Always loved the 2006 body style, esp. the front end/lights.

Yes glad to see we are still working on S197!! Thought everyone forgot about these. I've had mine since 2008 new and it's still running strong at 131K miles!! Noticed youtubers are getting rid of their 3V. Me? No way I'm keeping mine forever!! Keep up the mods!

I just got my 07 Shelby GT, with 9000miles on it, so I’m loving this 3V content! I’m keeping it N/A, wrote my own tune for it - I’ve got a long list of power mods todo this season

Love that you did a budget build. I myself, can’t afford 20k in one shot to get where I want. Nice temporary options, or for some permanent .

I bought a new 06 GT satin silver fully loaded and 2 months later severely injured my back. Rarely drove it usually just 2x a wk to keep it up and now in 2019 it has only 5250 miles. These are the only issues just in case some are wondering what just time does. It kills batteries and had a horrible parasite drain. 2-3 days and it is DEAD. Do that 3x and the battery is dead so a trickle charger is a must. It took 10 yrs but even garaged, the interior door panel material peeled off. Reglued. Thats it!! Most are blown away by the mileage but even so. DRIVE EM IF YOU GOT EM. Yes, you may sell or trade it faster but the amount you will get for a mint, low mileage car vs one with normal wear/tear and milage ain't that dam much so enjoy the car.
