Terming the right to health as a fundamental right which includes affordable treatment, the Supreme Court on Friday said it is the duty of the state to make provisions for affordable treatment during this unprecedented pandemic. "Right to health is a fundamental right guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. Right to Health includes affordable treatment. Therefore, it is the duty upon the State to make provisions for affordable treatment," the court said. A three-judge bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and MR Shah had taken up the issue of healthcare during the time of the pandemic on its own and also looked at instances where bodies of coronavirus casualties were not handled with dignity. The top court asked the government to devise a mechanism to give rotational break to doctors and healthcare professionals working continuously since April. On behalf of the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta assured the court that the government would take a decision in a day or two. The court also directed the authorities to conduct more testing and to declare correct facts and figures. In this edition of The Big Picture we will analyse the observation of the Supreme Court on affordable healthcare. Joining me on the program today are:

I think reduction of Cost of Medical Education is very important to attract middle class youth towards medical profession.

The body language of dr.Rana says everything. If these guys are speaking like this 20:35 on national news channel, then how they are going to treat with the patients ..HORRIFYING

I think there should be only 2 panelists.. One field expert(Doctor or Military personal or Financial Expert etc.) and one this way more question can be asked and the conversation can be crisp & best served in 30 minutes or so.

Why professor Ganguly is endorsing Gangaram hospital again and again?
I can say as per my personal experience, Gangaram charge their patients exorbitantly, it is nominally a not-for-profit hospital.
On the flip side they are minting lots of money through unethical practices.

There is no shortage of trained medical professionals such as doctors, nurses and other medical workers. Govt should launch recruitments time to time. India has sufficient doctors and other medical professionals.

Blame game is not Solution..!
HR deficit + unskilled youth, we know where to work!
What will CM Or state govt do when doctors are faking?
And what about hospitals rejecting patients??
And lack of funds? Where are donations, tax paid gone?
Middle class suffers the most..!
Awareness about rates etc must reach the common public so that they can fight for their rights..
Today people fear to go to hospital believing that they might survive at home but confirmed be killed in hospitals.. !
What about when doctors don't start immediate operations till documents and money is submitted?
I think hospitals need to be ethically standardised..!
Hospitals role is more needed than govts
