How to rewrite an equation into slope intercept form

👉 Learn how to write the equation of a line in a point-slope form. The equation of a line is such that its highest exponent on its variable(s) is 1. (i.e. there are no exponents in its variable(s)). There are various forms which we can write the equation of a line: the point-slope form, the slope-intercept form, the standard form, etc.

The slope-intercept form of the equation of a line is given by y = mx + c. where m is the slope of the line and c is the y-intercept. Given an equation of a line in another form, we can rewrite the equation in slope intercept form by making y the subject of the formula in the given equation.

Would the equation: x-4y=-8
be converted to: y=-1/4x+2
It confuses me when the x doesn't have a variable attached to it.

I understand the two examples that you shown. But I didn’t understand the last example: 4y+2x=12
If u have to isolate the y first how come you isolates the x first instead? Don’t you get he y by itself first then the x? Please reply @Brian McLogan
