Here are the reasons why a 5 min warm-up also helps : 👇🏻

1. Warm-up exercises prepare your body for physical activity by increasing your heart rate and circulation.

2. They increase joint lubrication, making movements smoother and reducing joint stiffness.

3. Warm-ups stimulate the production of synovial fluid, which provides better joint protection.

4. They help prevent post-exercise muscle soreness by gradually preparing the muscles for the demands of the workout.

This is the most controversial topic but read the caption carefully.

Many of you may have heard of the need for “mobility exercises” or “dynamic stretching” before a workout, but for most people, these aren’t necessary. The concept of “warmup” is often misunderstood in the fitness industry. When it comes to warming up, the key is to progressively prepare the specific contraction you’ll be using during your workout.

For example, if you plan on doing bench press, your warmup should involve progressively working up to your main set using bench press movements. If your focus is on lat pulldowns, there’s no need to waste time on XYZ mobility exercises - just gradually work your way up to your main set using lat pulldown movements.

The main goal of warming up is to practice the specific skill or movement you’ll be using during the workout. This prepares the agonist and antagonist muscles for the particular contractions and orchestrate the agonist and antagonist muscles to work together more effectively.

Additionally, warming up gives you a chance to assess your range of motion for that day and adjust your workout accordingly. You should see what range of motion feels good on that particular day and take some warmup sets to decide the range of motion for that particular day. Range of motion can vary from day to day, so it’s important to determine the appropriate range before starting your workout.

In addition to the mentioned advantages, there are various other benefits to a warm-up routine. However, the crux of the matter is that by engaging in specific muscle contractions during your warm-up, you will reap all the benefits.
