From Spring 2006 to October 2008 I used a 5D to shoot NHL hockey for AP. The arena I shot in was pretty dark. At ISO 1250 I could use 1/500 @ f/2.8. Marginal settings for fast action, but it mostly worked. As long as I stayed below ISO 1600 the image quality was excellent. The files gave me great cropping and exposure flexibility for the wire service. The sensor quality actually made the slower 5D a better tool than my 1D MK ll in those conditions.
I switched to Nikon and D700 cameras in the fall of 2008, but I still remember that 5D very fondly. Cheers
