Which Fruit Fights Cancer Better?

The ability of eleven common fruits to suppress cancer cell growth in vitro was compared. Which was most effective—apples, bananas, cranberries, grapefruits, grapes, lemons, oranges, peaches, pears, pineapples, or strawberries?

My dad actually knows what he does. He eats lemons every day and sprinkles the juice over our food ( greek tradition). I'm gonna show him this when he comes home from work :).

His calming voice is also health promoting.

Take home message: Lemons and cranberries are the best, followed by apples and strawaberries.

I'm gonna have to start putting cranberries in my green smoothie, thanks doc!

Thanks for this video Dr. Greger. I just made raw, fresh cranberry juice with a few purple grapes mixed in and I ate the cranberry pulp also. Glad I saw this video. Cranberry juice, made fresh, actually tastes very good. Better than any packaged juice could taste.

Would love to see a study that test whether multiple fruits combined do better, the same, or worse than the average of the two.

This is fascinating and I agree with cranberries, my grandmother has a glass of cranberry juice everyday and she's 92 and in perfect health. All of her siblings died of cancer and my family has a high incidence of cancer.

That's nice to know, but 20 mg/mL is 2%. You'll never get, or at least sustain, such a high percentage of cranberry juice in your blood.

Remember, this was just an in vitro study. I'm not sure how much significance to put behind in vitro studies, other than to say further study is recommended. Show me an in vivo study, now we've got something.

Always hated the taste of cranberries. But as that say, bitter the taste, better for the body.

Nice! So, to conclude:
Red Grapes < Strawberries < Apples < Lemons < Cranberries

Dr. Greger > I REALLY LOVE your channel. I've only truly been vegan for only 4 months and have been checking out other nutrition/vegan channels. Yours has more direct and concise communication (easily accessible info) to the topic and supporting data than I've seen on other channels. This is information I can really USE in my daily choices/action. Thanks so much!

Start the day off with lemon and water, then for breakfast either green smoothie pack with kale or organic oatmeal with bananas and strawberries. Unfortunately, I can't find fresh cranberries.

An excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to do the research and put it together in such an accessible way.

In my opinion the apples still win, since it’s much more pragmatic to eat one apple a day than same amount of lemon or cranberry. Thanks a lot for the priceless information :D

What about raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and kumquats? It's not easy to get cranberries where I live, but I have easy access to these other berries.
