Darche Frontier swag

A look at the Darche Frontier 1200 swag. Set it up for the first time and stayed 5 nights down the beach in it with temps to 3 degrees, torrential rail and even hail one morning. Swag performed really well with a small amount of leakage along the two top seams - by all accounts, this should seal up by itself after it's been soaked half a dozen times. Lots of room, lots of ventilation, a roomy and versatile swag. You do need to peg this one out though - 8 pegs are necessary and you can optionally use some small poles for the two larger doors if you like. All doors completely open to give 4 entries and two midget entries!! I'm using my own mattress in it so I can't tell you if the Darche mattress is any good or not. Swag or tent? It feels more like a canvas tent to me.

Very unique and very good quality! We love ours, been in rain and kept us dry and warm! We are pretty lucky to be able to have one as they discontinued making this one. So now we have the best lookin best unique, best quality swag at camping!

Update. Melted some beeswax and painted it onto the two top seams. Then had it out in a good downpour - at least 30mm of rain fell over a few hours, it really bucketed down. No seams leaked at all. A tiny bit got in where I'd left a vent open but it was barely enough to dampen a tissue. I was really impressed.

Nice video to show how it's setup.how are you finding it now it's 3yrs later? I'm looking at buying one of these or the oztent rs1 or maybe a popup tent

I did try the Darche mattress that came with the swag one night....almost, but not quite comfy enough for my bony hips. I'm a bit torn between going for one of their all terrain self inflating mats, or going the whole hog and buying the Exped Mega mat - which by all accounts is THE most comfortable self (semi/self) inflating mattresses on the planet. Mind you, at $300 or near to for the single version, they aint cheap. Spent a few more nights in the Frontier and am really enjoying both the room and the versatility to open various windows. It's a hell of a lot more roomy than my hiking tent.

I'm trying to pick between 3 tents right now. A Darche: Nebula 1550, a Frontier 1200. And a Black Wolf: Rye Buck. All three look good.

Would love to own the Nebula 1550 though. Only improvement that could need is, a cot to fit under it.

Good product description by the way. It's good to see you pointed out the seam leak. This is quite helpful to those looking at this model.
