I worked for B&Q about 7 years ago. They scrapped in store security to save money. Scruffy smackheads would run out with hundreds of pounds worth of goods, and several times a year travellers would set up their mobile homes in the car park, and ransack the store and threaten staff. In fact staff were constantly under verbal and physical attack, from customers, thieves and the occasional knuckhead store manager. The management would usually side with abusive customers instead of protecting staff. They are an awful company.

£2000 worth? So two packs?……there’s theft right there!

I hope the police charge him if caught.

I've heard shoplifting has pretty much been legalised in the UK. I saw Farage saying the police don't even bother if less than £200 worth of goods has been stolen.

My local B&Q is always full of gear heads on the rob.

Apart from cheap white emulsion there is NOTHING in these DIY stores worth buying. Overpriced TAT.

They went self service now I don't go near the place. Funny how they mention his skin colour for once, I wonder why

I've worked in retail for 20 years. Last year, our stocktake had 'loss' at 300% compared to the year before. When I started, there were just tills. Then they added alarm sensors, then a security podium, then wheels on the trolleys that locked if you didn't pass through the tills with them. The latest thing is metal barrier gates to stop people from just rushing out the doors with a trolley of contraband.

's fooked man.

The sign at 2:10 Compost 3 for £16, or £4.87p each. I reckon you’d be better off buying 3 individually 😂😂😂😂😂😂

When I went into my local B&Q, they told me they had been robbed 4 out of 7 days that week. They now have a turret-like camera with a direct link to the police department planted outside the store. no secutiry, no nothing.

As someone who works in Toolstation, we have had our fair share of theft as well. I had to do a theft check. Ironically, most of the missing items were ones that had our security tags on. Reason? The security tags aren’t on the items, they are on the hanging part where the item is sat. Most of the items are packaged in easily tearable cardboard. We’d had about £20 worth of stuff taken since I’d last been in. Most of which had the “Security Measures” on!

I was employed by B & Q betwween 1998 and 2000 and worked at one of their larger "Warehouse" stores that had just opened.

Back then there were some plain clothes security officers keeping a close on eye on things and I believe they were very effective. The power tools were in an enclosed area and the display items were chained up.

There were lots checkouts and it would have harder to dash out of the store with a trolley full of merchandise. Both the entrance and exit doors were manned.

I went into the same store several weeks ago and it was fairly deserted. The self serve checkout was monitored but a lot less eyes on the shop floor than there used to be.

Haven't seen security anywhere this christmas. I assume the retailers aren't bothering paying someone who can't really do anything as the police refuse to turn out.

If this is a patron of Allans Snack Bar what on earth would he be doing with these batteries? Hmmm.
