Behind the success rate: Operating the Iron Dome during Operation Breaking Dawn

Defense correspondent Matthias Inbar of i24NEWS French, spoke to an officer in the IDF Unit 947 that controls the Iron Dome aerial defense system, which boasted a 96% success rate intercepting rockets from Gaza during the recent flare-up.

I thought it was automated. Obviously someone would be there to maintain it and fix any malfunctions, something that she is probably qualified to do but I thought that she would just throw a switch and wait.
Well, I'm glad that people like her are out there doing their duty to keep Israel safe. Hopefully you all will have something better than missiles in the near future. Those things can't be cheap. Those rockets fired from Gaza are only a few hundred dollars a shot.

1. Israel does not need Military aid from United States. Israel is now self-sufficient and can protect itself. The only reason the USA gives aid to Israel is to have a foot hold in the Middle East and to have access to Israel’s military benefits the USA not Israel.

2. Israel must spend 74% of American aid money on American defence contractors. This spending supports well over 20, 000 jobs according to recent estimates.
3. Israel provides a cost-effective alternative to stationing American troops in the region. U.S tax dollars maintain regional peace and stability by helping Israel respond effectively to its unprecedented military threats from Hamas controlled Gaza, and other Islamist terror groups.

The United States should end military aid to Israel...

1. Israel can pay for its own military. Israel has a strong economy, an excellent international credit rating, and runs frequent budget surplus. Israel ran an annual surplus of more than a billion dollars six out of the last ten years.

2. Military aid to Israel is a security risk. Israel is a major supplier of military technology to China. These sales have been instrumental in the modernization of the Chinese military. Israel developed the Lavi fighter from American technology with 1.5 billion in American subsidies. Israel sold the Lavi fighter to China. It is now called the J-10 and is the mainstay of the Chinese Air Force. Israel has also sold China missile guidance systems, , advanced radar systems and targeting systems.

3. Israel is a diplomatic liability.

4. Military aid to Israel is illegal under the Leahy Law because of Israel's human rights violations. Any aid to Israel is illegal under the Symington amendment which prohibits aid to nations with nuclear weapons that have not signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and do not permit inspections of their nuclear sites, , ,
