Geophysicist - Getting Job Skill

Geophysicists study the subsurface of the Earth and explore for natural resources such as oil, minerals and groundwater, and help solve environmental problems from natural hazards to pollution monitoring and civil engineering.

Geophysicists use technology to collect, display and interpret data, and apply physics, computing and maths in practical ways on commercial and environmental projects.

In the geophysics major you will gain knowledge in areas of physics and mathematics and be introduced to:
- geophysical processes
- geology
- electronic measurement
- experiment and survey design
- scientific computing and data processing
- methods of analyzing and imaging the Earth.
- You will explore geophysical methods such as seismic, magnetisc, gravity, electrical and electromagnetic methods and undertake field trips.
