Magnus' coach back then told him to never bring the queen out too early.
So he took that to the next level and didn't bring her out before his opponent resigned.

Magnus was still learning chess back then he didn't know how the queen moves

Somehow Magnus is better than all of us without ever using two of his pieces.

I swear Chess can be more thrilling than a movie sometimes. I love when 2 players are able to win in less than 4-6 moves, and they both are just battling and defending and so on. Its so insane. I LOVE IT.

Magnus didn’t just not move his queen, he didn’t move his queen the light square bishop, two pawns, or the rook after castle…. Amazing plays

I got worried that he either purposefully blundered the queen early or somehow took it off the board. This is much better than I expected as I agree that it would be disrespectful to do that.

Beginner: me attack with one horse

Intermediate: develop all your pieces

Master: me attack with one horse

1:07 Props to Magnus for not resigning, that position is clearly lost.

*"You think you can sacrificed your queen and just win?"*
Magnus : *"Yeah."*

This is Magnus' special opening where he moves the queen last, dependent on if you survive until the end of the opening. Vishy didn't.

Watching this live was absolutely fantastic. Seeing the two greats go head to head in an insanely sharp position and Magnus explaining everything in the press conference, even talking to a Norwegian friend before sitting down saying "he has to play Bf1, it's the only move" then proceeding to go through the drawing line Vishy missed. I guess Vishy was hell bent on winning, and probably he was earlier. Playing Raf2 instead of axb4 would have given a close to winning initiative.

Because Castling is considered a King Move, one could argue that Magnus didn't move 3 of his pieces

Hey Levy, a long time subscriber from India here. I have followed your content and grew from an absolute beginner to a currently 1000 rated player with a long way to go. This week I played my first over the board tournament representing my college in the University Championship and got Second. I just want to thank you and your amazing content for all the help you have made in improving my game. It would not have been possible without you. So a BIG THANKYOU

I think you are the only person who can make a 20 minute video about a single chess game so interesting to the end.
