Worked like a charm. A used a clean rag to work it into the wood and seen better results, verses a paint brush

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I have watched videos for hours and I finally found yours. I have a maple dresser I need to redo for our master bedroom and I desperately wanted to stain it a little darker like the walnut you have here. I didn’t know what to use or what to do because maple is so 😬😬 to work with but a beautiful wood.

Thank you for the video! What's the stain color in the middle? Not the one your client selected, but the one in the middle?

This video saved my bacon on some very characteristic maple slabs. Client picked them out and like them because of the spalting but hated how some of the samples looked when stained. She wanted these maple slabs to have the yellowness of like a yellow pine. tried this technique with a semi transparent natural Minwax and they turned out great thank you!

Thank you for the information, especially in regards to blotchy areas. I have bathroom cabinets that need to be stained. I want a natural wood look without too many yellow tones. What stain color did you finish with?

there are a lot of wood workshops like yours in Québec with a lot of experience with Maple since most maple trees are found there. If you ever need guidance, try one of their guide books or magazines. They have lots.

Can you share what different stains you tried after the shellac? The colors are nice and wondered which products they were. Thanks

thanks man this is helpful, i'm not getting good results with the minwax preconditioner either, so i will try this. I own a cabinet shop and maple has always been finicky. One of the best woods I've ever stained is Alder, it's just very soft. Thanks!

Add tint to the sanding sealer instead of using stain after. Will look beautiful.

Really good video, I got some smaller maple turnings that have very little sapwood/heartwood figure to them and I wanted to add some stain. How long did you let shellac mix dry before sanding? Also the table is absolutely awesome

Today I ruined a beautiful hickory door I built with stain, bloches... I hear ya, always try to make products that don't need stain 👎🏼.

Appreciate the tips for staining hardwoods, hopefully I can fix it

Ended up on your channel because I'm having nightmares with blotchy guitar maple necks ! I do a ngr amber recipe with denatured alcohol but man, two out of five come up really ugly. Thanks for sharing ! Grewetings from Quebec !

Hi! I know this vid was from awhile ago but I JUST finished building a maple gaming table and it was almost exactly like this. It is honestly a bit uncanny. Having gone through the process, I am very curious about how you attached those top rails? I don't see any visible screws. Attaching the top rail was a beast in my build.

Where are you located. Did your table come out the way you wanted it to.

I use dye mixed in denatured alchohol. I keep applying until it darjens to the level i want. It compounds as you apply it.

Can you use just the sanding sealer as a preventative measure before applying an oil based finish like polyurethane? Im finishing a cherry coffee table with some beautiful figure and have had some not so great experiences we’ll say with finishing cherry

I’m new at this. Why would you want to use 600 grit paper and close the grain? I keep reading that 180 grit it the max that should be used on maple. I’m trying to refinish two old dressers, needing to strip them and then water-base stain, and finding what I am reading a bit daunting on the nightmare of maple
