I'll be honest, Emily's taste in books really screams big brain energy to me. Some are sucker for a literary prose or writing, but Emily can sit through a dry narration as long as the plot is driving to the right direction.

Two books I SOBBED reading!
1) when breath becomes air. A memoir written by a doctor dying of cancer. I cried so hard I got a n*se bl*ed lol and it was written beautifully! The last paragraph was the most beautiful piece of writing Iv ever read.

2) the book thief. When I tell u I CRIED I criedddd but it was also such a good story i didn’t know what to expect cuz I had always heard of it as like a “classic” and I thought it was gonna be over hyped but it wasn’t it was actually good!! :)

I read My Sweet Orange Tree when I was about 10 and I couldn't stop crying since the second half of the book. It was so heartbreaking. I never picked up that book again, it was too much for me

I've only cried to one book in my life, and that was Song of Achilles. It's funny because while I was reading it I was like, "huh, this is not THAT sad, not sure why everyone is crying over this". Haha, well, after the last sentence I was a sobbing mess. Loved that book <3

A book that made me cry is “the unwomenly face of war” by Svetlana Alexievich. It’s nonfiction but it’s really heartbreaking.

If you're looking to explore more Steinbeck, I'd recommend picking up The Winter of Our Discontent. Beautifully written novel exploring morality and making ends meet.

I spent the last quarter of Betty by Tiffany McDaniel crying almost constantly. It is so beautiful, and has some of my absolute favourite characters. As for time travel, I have just finished Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister which is about a woman who witnesses her son kill a man, and she travels through time to try and stop it from happening, it was a solid 5 star, and I haven‘t read a 5 star thriller for ages.

And every morning the way home gets longer and longer, by Fredrik Backman. I don't usually cry either, but with this I sobbed and I don't even have a grandpa
