A single embryo SPLITS! Early identical twin findings at 5 & 6/7 weeks gestation.

Показать описание
Sometimes a single embryo will split after transfer. Here we see the appearance of a single sac in the uterus with two yolk sacs! This will likely develop into identical twins with separate amniotic sacs but one overall chorionic sac. This may happen approximately 1% of the time after single embryo transfer.

I missed my period for a day, then took a urine test, got a dark positive line within 5 seconds, same as the control line. Next day, I took an HCG test, 2 days after missing my period, and got 8870, double. Then I started feeling pressure and heaviness in my lower abdomen 7 days ago, and have nausea, but it's not severe. This morning, at 7 weeks, I had brownish discharge during urine. Today, I had an ultrasound, everything looked fine, uterus appeared bulky, but the doctor didn't confirm twins, my mother is also twin daughter, i also have intuition of twins but my abdomen ultrasound dont show

I had scan yesterday at 5 weeks 6 days. I have the same - 2 yolk sacs within one gestational sac. Only one of them shows a heartbeat flicker, the other shows nothing. Is it likely the other could be slow developing or was fertilised later than the other? Or at this stage would something be showing already? I have to go back in 2 weeks. 😢

Is there something about the transfer of fertility facilitation process that increases the chances of this happening? Compared to a regular, non facilitated conception?

Hi… I had my frozen embryo transfer on 19th June. The embryos were kept freezer for nearly 6months. Then.. I had my transfer. At 2nd july, I had HCG of 325.9 . I took my ultrasound scan on 16th July. Only gestational sac of 9.5mm and yolk sac could be seen embryo couldn’t be found. They told me to repeat the ultrasound scan 2 weeks later. My hcg on 16th July was 9355. Is there any chance of embryo to be visible in the next scan?

Hello Dr. Wilshire my girlfriend is pregnant with twins that are in the same placenta with the same sac with each baby a and baby b having their own yoke sac my question is are we able to tell if they are identical or fraternal before they are born? All the videos I am seeing are products of inseminations where the single embryo they have “implanted“ have split into two.
