When evaluating potential threats to this enterprise, the first question should be: “If we find that our submarine is stuck at a depth of 4 km, what will we do? What rescue options do we have outside of a stranded submarine?”
In other words, they had to have at least one other ship with similar capabilities, designed for rescue operations.

It seems foolish to not have it tethered to a cable so it could be returned to the surface in such a situation.

This means that the worst possible situation is indeed occurring. The sub did not implode... They are trapped.

They have 24hrs left of air. It’s 8-10 hrs to reach the bottom and ascend back to the surface. They got about 14 hrs to locate it but it hasn’t even been found yet. Then to get recovery operations in place to reach those depths in time is impossible. God speed!

So many red flags with this company. Sub has not been certified or endorsed by any regulatory body. Was an accident waiting to happen.

Update: So old mate Subbrief called it. Sub imploded. That's why certifications are important.

If these tapping sounds are at regular 30 minute intervals they must be of human origin, and if they are coming from a great depth there can be no other source than the missing submersible. There is a submersible in UK which has the ability to go down to that depth and also has mechanical contrivances capable of attaching cables or a flotation device to the stricken submersible. For all I know, efforts have already begun to fly this UK submersible to Newfoundland. We just need confirmation that the noises are tapping sounds and are coming at regular half hour intervals
