I come from Bishop Auckland in the north of England where the town centre has been decimated and abandoned due to many reasons such as domination of supermarkets and chains all situated out of the centre.The local labour council has given the go ahead to many crazy schemes from a totally insane speculator with little regard for the people of the area or sensible plans to regenerate what has become a ghost town.

I used to live very close to here; my mother in law's former council flat is to be demolished too. Utterly scandalous, and agreed by a so called Labour council Shameful disgrace. Ash's parting words totally spot on.

In the video they kept repeating the word community.
It seems its an exclusive latin community.
The presenter was the only Asian person there and the large majority are Latin businesses.
Integration is the key to a real community.

I'm glad you're bringing attention to this, but I'd like to know how this is being allowed under Ejiofor when he preaches municipal socialism. What are Momentum actually doing to try and protect Latin Village ?

Gentrification has become a problem in just about every major global city. It is hardly confined to London, sadly. If we're being honest, it's understandable: Local governments are just looking at the bottom line. They want tax revenue, and higher value properties, owned as they may be by very wealthy foreigners, offer a lucrative opportunity to politicians.


I'm not saying it's right, but we need to understand why this keeps happening if we're going to prevent it.

The backing of a Corbyn government would hopefully sort this out, but Haringey should say no to this. Joseph Ejiofor spoke passionately about what a 'Corbyn council' will do. Sadly, it seems on the destruction of public assets, they do the same as every other council.
