CAMARA - Building an Ecosystem for 5G Network Capabilities and Telco Edge Cloud - Nathan Rader, Deutsche Telekom

5G network capabilities in connection with telco edge cloud enable new business cases for customers. To make this happen a new ecosystem has to be created which bases on 4 basic principles: - Abstraction: Hiding technical telco complexity and exposing the capabilities via intend based service APIs to make it easy to consume. - Availability: Customers expect that these APIs are seamless available across telco networks and countries. - Agility: Create de-facto standards via state-of-the-art open source code development. - Business driven: Drive backlog / prioritization according the customer requirements. To build this ecosystem the CAMARA Project was initiated within LF with a dedicated relationship to GSMA/OPG. GMSA/OPG collects requirements and hands it over to CAMARA where the APIs are developed and tested. Finally CAMARA passes the tested and well documented APIs back to GSMA/OPG for publishing it to the 200 telco operators that they can implement it in their networks. CAMARA is already a big success: Initiated in summer 2021 with 8 partners it was launched on MWC2022 with 22 partners and has grown in the meantime to 50 partners, including vendors, telcos and hyperscalers.
