What is it like to call two countries home? What makes migrants move in the first place and how do they settle in a new society? What keeps them on the move? Where do they belong? On Japanese on the Move: Life Stories of Transmigration fifty individuals share their experiences. Each of them has a unique connection to Japan and Australia and they all have a story to tell. Video-interviewed by Ingrid Piller and Kimie Takahashi, they speak about the joys and challenges of leading transnational lives. Their stories are personal reflections on what it means to be on the move and at home and to belong to two (or more) countries. The journey starts on Language-on-the-Move in October 2011 and over the period of a year you will be able to meet many very different "Japanese on the Move". Please join us and enjoy the journey with us! Funded by: The Australia-Japan Foundation (the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), The Faculty of Human Sciences, Macquarie University, Australia
