I use.mamoth sunflowers as my trellis for my cucumbers. Its been amazing

I prune leaves and anything the first 12" or so as I do with my tomatoes to help with airflow and minimize mildew and disease. Pruning can be so beneficial!

I hardly have any green healthy looking leaves but have many flowers and now tiny cucumbers... do they even grow? I give them plenty water and some coffee grind and egg shells.

you should prune them regardless. those small yellow flowers take energy from the plant. cut off any dead leaves and those flowers whenever you see them

Is your trellis rope material? I can't tell in the video. And do you have to remove the first flowers from the cucumber plant for a week or so to produce more cucumbers when the plant is ready to produce or is not necessarily? Hope to hear back, thanks!

So you prune to help the nutrients move from where they are causing little benefit over to the fruit/vegetables for maximum benefit 😊

I had no clue that cucumbers won’t grow on the lower part of the vine where they already grew. 🤯

so I used the string trellis to get the cucumbers to go up but in order to do that and for them to stay up, I had to clip off some of the to reduce the weight of the plant do you think they will survive there are still a lot of leaves at the bottom and some still like at the Toppenish area.

Leave the leaves the cucumber will continue to produce down low. You stopped the production ability and shade for the roots.

I don't prune the leaves, but I take out alot of male flowers. There's less female flowers
