This has been one of my favorite books for a long time, since I read it a couple of decades ago. Written in 1985, I think there have been many train derailings and chemical fires since then but somehow they filmed this in the very place where there is today a real disaster. I'm pretty sure no one would appreciate that irony (?) more than Delillo. I heard they were making it into a movie and I thought, Who would ever want to see that? Now that I've seen the trailer I'm still thinking, why is this a movie?! The tone of the trailer is so confused because they probably don't know how to market something that is so depressing &dark. Antics! Montages! Satire! Entertainment?
