The Rollout of the Passive House standard in Ireland: Challenges and Opportunities

In this presentation Eur Ing Dr Shane Colclough discussed the decision by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co Co to include the Passive House standard in its six year development plan and what this means for the industry as well as the inherent challenges and opportunities. He also covered what the Passive House standard is, comparing it with the current building regulations and provided details of associated costs via a case study. Certification and qualifications for building industry professionals and tradespersons was also examined along with approaches to retrofitting to the Passive House standard.
