Feeding routines are an excellent opportunity to see how your dog has changed, as well. I fed them in a large room, bowls separated for pack and space. I have a rescue that did fine eating in a group. Then one day, he wouldn’t follow the drill. Just would not sit. It took time and attention on my part, but he no longer wanted to eat with the other dogs.

They now eat in different locations, it takes a bit longer, but I have time with everyone. And no refusals. I don’t force them into stressful situations when it comes to doing necessary things. Eating, sleeping and voiding should not be rudely interrupted when you have a mystery history.

I think it's worth noting that for dogs prone to bloat should not have restricted feeding time unless you are hand feeding them slowly. Per our vet, if the dog thinks it's only getting fed at certain times, it will cause them to eat faster and can cause issues like bloat, or vomiting. We free feed our pup unless we plan on doing drills. We do make him wait and have manners when we fill up his bowl but we leave it down until he is finished, even if it takes him awhile. He also used to resource guard when we only fed him on a restricted schedule and now that he free feeds he no longer does that.

I prepare my dogs food on the floor (unless I'm cooking or cutting things) 😬 she does sit and wait until I tell her it's ready though

...I did it this way because she was around cats, kids and chaos adults so she needed to be taught to not take food unless I give permission, she waits for my permission even if a vet offers her a treat
