In this tutorial, you will learn how to run desktop flows from Power Automate Cloud. You'll need to install the Power Automate Machine Runtime on the machine where you want your flows to run. Once that's done, you can configure Power Automate Cloud by specifying the machine, domain, username, and password. Then, you'll create a simple demo flow in Power Automate Desktop, which will be used to test the connection. Finally, you'll learn how to test the connection by running the desktop flow from Power Automate Cloud.

Specify the Machine, Domain, Username, and Password in the Run a flow built with Power Automate for desktop in Power Automate Cloud.

06:22 Power Automate Desktop Demo Flow
We create a simple Power Automate Desktop demo flow to test the connection. The input variable is used to pass values from Power Automate Cloud, and the output variable is used to pass values to Power Automate Cloud.

09:09 Test the Connection
With the demo flow, we test that we can run the Desktop flow from Power Automate Cloud.

Hi Anders, in my scenario, I need to pass a url from cloud to automate to be able to open that URL in browser ( As far as I understood, there is no cloud connection which opens a new browser and paste the step of previous step( which is a URL) in browser)and then again coming back in my power automate cloud to download a file from that URL. How can I do that?

Hello @andersjensenorg, I'm glad to find this video. In our organization, we exclusively rely on Windows PIN and Windows Hello for user authentication, rather than traditional passwords. Are there any alternatives or adjustments available for us, considering this authentication method?

Ander, thank you so much for such informative videos. I have a concern though. This does not work well in case if the Flow has UI elements involved. When u are on the VM and you run the flow, it works sucessfully. However, if u minimise the VM and then run the flow, it fails at UI element steps. Is there a way to resolve that?

Thanks, Andres for your guidance. I have learnt a lot from your videos. I have written a Powershell script for SysAdmin tasks which need to run via Powershell (administrator only). When I go to write up a Desktop Flow. It doesn't work as the Desktop flow doesn't have any option to run my script as admin. When I add another line to run the script via Powershell admin, then I get UAC, which is not an ideal scenario, as my goal is to run this script on client PCs unattended, using Scheduled Cloud Flow.

This is still a relevant lesson and helpful. The 'whoami' piece is important!! Great walkthrough. Thank-you.

It takes very long time to trigger my desktop flow from cloud. Is there any solution to speed up the triggering?

Brilliant explanation!! Importantly, you took a practical scenario of developing the flow on one machine and running it on a different machine.
Just one quick query I am sure you can answer very quickly…. Can a VM be registered to multiple environments?

Nice videos as always.
Sticking to Power Automate, if you need an idea on your next video, how about putting out a video about a few best practices on how to centrally manage PA/PAD within an organization. Separation of environments, license management, etc.
Compared to Ui Path, it doesn't seem as intuitive. Cheers and keep up the good work.

Hello Andres, I would like to send an email from PA desktop that don't be dependent on the user's email, like a email or notification sended by power automate itself. Because I don't want that the user of my flow know the email contein, is it possible?. I hope it has been understandable. Thanks for your answer!!!

Hello Anders I just came by your videos I need some guidance, when setting up the flow I don't get the option to connect directly to my computer, all i get are " Connect with username and password", "Connect with sign in - Attended (preview)" and Using an on premise data gateway (deprecated). Any guidance on how to get the direct to computer option?

Hi
I want to ask, how to restore deleted flows in power automate desktop. Is the flow stored locally on the desktop?

All of your videos seem to start from just downloading the PAD installer whether for PAD or the machine runtime. From everything I've read, a special license (with "Attended RPA") is required to run a desktop flow from the cloud. What kind of account & license do you have that allows you to do this? Is it free? How did you sign up for it? Also everything I've read about the PL-500 exam talks about things like Dataverse, environments, etc... but I don't think I've ever seen you talk about any of that. What kind of accounts & licenses are truly needed to try all the skills in scope for the PL-500?
