My Heart Defect, Doctors And Diets

Welcome to a very personal story. A story of my heart that has been through change, work, grief, shock, desire, open heart surgery (twice), shame, compassion and vulnerability. My name is Cynthia and I am a Chef. The next thing I want you to know about me is that I struggled for many years searching for answers of what to eat for optimal health.

I was born in Australia and adopted from birth in 1971. #Bless all the amazing nurses that looked after me in the hospital after I was born, they informed my adopted parents that I had a heart valve problem which over time, would need to be replaced. I was born with just 2 parts to one of my heart valves and not three like normal.

Thank you for sharing part of your story. In my own journey, I also found that diet was not talked about other than my Meniures. Where avoiding certain foodstuffs, makes my life so much better. And keeps me off certain pharmaceuticals

I, too was born with a malformation. I, too don't get sick that often. My diet has never been apart of the conversation either and yet diet is a major component to maintaining balance in the body. Though I eat meat, my cooking has 100% contributed to my health's improvement.
I love these chat videos you publish. Very inspiring.

Only one doctor has ever asked me my diet as my cholesterol has always been amazingly low, ( been vego most of my life) All other doctors has dismissed it as 'good genetics!" Whilst my family take medications to reduce level of cholesterol! I just giggle to myself 🤣🙄

I think this is amazing and so appreciative of you telling your story. It takes someone that is trusted, the way you are trusted, by people that follow you to believe that food does heal. When my husband had his heart surgery in November 2021, it totally amazed me the shit they offered as food for him to eat. I was appalled. I believe, food put him there, and to feed him the same thing that put him there blows my mind. Especially when Dr Esselstyn, a heart surgeon, is a huge Fork or Knives plant based believer and doesn't eat meat and is employed by the Cleveland Clinic. One of the best hospitals in the country and they still serve crap for food. I believe Doctors are there to put a bandaid on the problem and move on. (not all of them) I have found this on my own journey to fix issues that I have to no avail. Just sayin. Thank you immensely for what you do and speaking out. 💜
