After spending most of last week digging up the yard and making a large mess we decided to invest in some machinery to assist in the clean up operation.
And in true style what a better starting point than a neglected V8 dumper.

Congratulations. You've got yourself a Magirus dump truck. I know it says Iveco on the grille, but it is a Magirus. These trucks are iconic in Germany, indestructible. The Russians bought large numbers of them for use in Siberia because of the quality and the aircooled engines. This one has a V8 engine, but there were also V10 engines. Restore it to its former glory, and you will have something very special.

What a machine! Anybody would think it had been parked up yesterday going by how easily it fired into life!

That Foden makes a great sound and does its best work at tickover. Adam definitely suits it.

As a real ageing Resto ex-Bricklayer it made me very happy to hear you say you are salvaging the brick and not crushing them. My first job after leaving School in 1983 was to hand dress off 29, 000 reclaimed bricks with a scutch hammer now you'd just drag out on of your scutch guns and run it off the compressor. So good luck and enjoy Joe and co 😂👍.

Those Deutz V8 certainly were tough. Back in the late 70s I was in the South African army driving a 6x6 10 ton dropside truck - called Magirus Deutz 232. The cab was the same as the Iveco but different chassis. It was semi desert dusty and temperatures of up to 52C.
I had a runaway when overloaded and ended up going around 80 mph down a hill when the truck was geared for 50 (2800 rpm)
The rev counter wound around until it was back at idle (+-4500 rpm) .
The only harm done was that the rockers smashed through the covers. I patched the holes with epoxy and drove it just about every day for 9 months without a problem.

I'm starting to think this channel is secretly an advert for those jump packs.
If not, they should be a sponsor.

Reminds me of being a kid in the 70’s and playing with my Tonka trucks. Happy days. 😊

Your reaction to the interior when you opened the door and to when that beauty fired up were priceless.

Used to run a Magi Deutz back in "86" on an open cast down Staffordshire way, draggin full loads of the black stuff from the bottom, 100+ metres up 1 in 3 dirt tracks to load onto 44 tonne tipper trailers.
Awesome bit of kit, diff locks on it never broke even a sweat.

The close-up of Joe's expression (that perfect mix of "Holy Crap" and "Well Of Course It Would"), when the V8 started with no histrionics whatsoever, was priceless...

The demolition company I worked for in the 80’s in Essex used to have 6 of those iveco trucks. Such a great work horse and totally indestructible and loved the sound of the V8 air cooled engine.
Good to see one again👍

Brilliant job getting the dumptruck up & running & into use right away! From Germany to Baghdad to Blighty! That's recycling, also recycling these bricks - awesome!!

The local council up here used to have these wagons as snow ploughs and Harry that drove them said nothing could plough like them, you could charge into 6ft of snow and it would just fly off the V plough. I’m sure Harry’s sending his blessings from up above 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Had these as Bowsers and Lube Trucks on the opencast over 30 years ago but they were V10 with a ZF Box, great Trucks, although they had Magirus Deutz on the front Grill.👍

As a retired iveco electrician and worked on the old magi, s what a joy it was to see your old dump truck start first time. I was glad for you because if you had engine problems, you’d need a specialist. I’m hoping that you keep it and do it up, what a machine.
