When most people discuss window mangers in Linux the main types that are discussed are tiling window managers but they're not the only kind that exist. Most Desktop Environment users are users are also familiar with floating window managers but those 2 other which tend to get far less attention, probably due to the fact that the are arguably less usable.

I'll probably be using a tiling window manager for the foreseeable future, but let me know in the comments what you like using.

I find the terminal (mainly Termite), Stacer, Firewall, Timeshift, Character Map, Xscreensaver, etc... practical to send to the scratchpad as floating windows. Then I just switch to the ws's with my main apps for whatever I intend to do. Workflow is something that develops itself.

For stacking, I used to be a fan of wmii, but for tiling, I liked Awesome, but overall my favorites are JWM, and Enlightenment.

Fluxbox for years yet recently jumped to CWM and it rocks. Floating forever, tiling never 😉

I use pop cosmic or cinnamon on good configuration laptop and desktop, icewm (stacking), i3 (tiling) on old computers/laptops
