Old taxidermy is so bizarre and full of weird stories like this, Birds Of Paradise were - for a VERY LONG TIME - believed to have no legs and just constantly flew, and also drank from clouds, because every single taxidermied/preserved example of the birds was a dried skin without legs (can’t be preserved through simple drying) so for ages people genuinely thought they just had no legs and were some sort of “godly creation” who got to visit heaven

A whole video on weird zoo signs would be hilarious I was at a zoo once and there was a lagre standing sign talking about Native American history on like the land the zoo was on or something which is all chill except the top of the sign in be bold letters just read “NATIVE AMERICANS AT THE ZOO” and it was right by a guide to the different animals locations… its safe to say I was very confused when reading that 💀
