I was diagnosed with t1 when I was 10. I wasn't surprised I had it. Two of my cousins have it and so does my grandpa. I wasn't comfortable at first to put in my own insulin shots, but then I was able to do it. The good thing about having two other diabetic cousins is that we always test together and guess eachothers numbers. But I'm so great full that I had my family and background information from my cousins I couldn't thank them enough.

Danica,
I have had diabetes now 47 plus years and am very grateful to Drs Banting and Best. Not to mention the first night I was in the hospital and had been given an insulin shot I did not have to get up once!!! Such joy! Crazy I know, but it made me so happy! In those days we had to use test tubes and measure our urine and then drop a tablet in and use a color chart to see where our sugar was. Things have progressed so very

I was diagnosed T1 last year, at 39yo and my experience was similar in that I was drinking a LOT, peeing a LOT and at one stage both at the same time. I was 450 when they tested me and there was talk of hospital but for some reason and I don't remember why I didn't end up there but I think the symptoms went away very quickly after starting on medication. This is still new to me hundreds of tests and insulin injections later, but a year on, its better, the first 6 months were traumatising.

when i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes i was 16 which is really old to be diagnosed since the oldest age to be diagnosed usually is 14. like her i was also drinking a lot of water, and urinating every hour about, my blood sugar (in mg/dl which is what i think she was using) was about 880, to give a comparison for me i'm supposed to keep it about between 60 and 100. it got so bad my vision was being affected because my eyes were thinly glazed with sugar, before i knew what was going on i got glasses which surprisingly helped. At this point i knew something was wrong so my parents drove me to the hospital and i stayed over night with two catheters in my arms. Weirdly enough i didn't have keystones. My attitude was it sucked but i could have been worse and i was old enough to better deal with it. my vision returned, which made it weird explaining to people how my vision miraculously got better. and now i just fit diabetes into my routine and try to keep it under control.

I am not diabetic, but I have a friend who has type one. I love to be educated on this topic, because it really interests me. Thank you for sharing your story, and educating the world about the truths of diabetes. BTW, live-abetes is a great name. ♥️

Well I found out when I was 8 years old, I'm 22 now. Anyways my story goes like this, I was having a really bad asthma attack and nearly died from it, they doctors put me on prednisone (a steriod) and by the time I was released I went home very weak and dehydrated, also urinating a lot, then I passed out, my mother rushed me to the hospital because she didnt know why I passed out. Then hours later the doctor told me and my mother I was a Type 1 Diabetic
