You’ll never regret taking the photo ❤️‍🩹

I met Jane at the Cherry Blossom Gardens in Burnaby.

I asked if she wanted a photo of her and her pup together.

She wasn’t sure at first. She didn’t feel like it was her day.

And I get that — I never want to pressure anyone into being photographed.

But as we talked, she told me about Angel.

Angel is 14. She has kidney disease. Jane has had her since she was a puppy.

“I’m lucky she’s still here,” she said, “but I don’t know how much time I have left with her.” 🥺

That moment hit me. I knew how important this moment could be for her.

So I gently asked again — no pressure. I said we didn’t have to post the photos. I’d just send them to her to keep.

She agreed. And I’m so glad she did. 🙏

Even though Jane said she wasn’t feeling like her best self, when she saw the photos, she lit up.

She told me she loved them. That she hadn’t had a photo with Angel since her son was born.

And that yes — I could share them.

This is your reminder: take the photo. 📸

Even if your hair’s not perfect. Even if you don’t feel like it today.

Take the photo.

Because one day, you’ll be so glad you did.

You’ll never regret having a photo with your dog — only missing the chance to take one.

Not having that photo would have been a huge regret.

Glad she let you take the pic. She'll treasure that once her baby crosses the bridge.
I have tears in my eyes. ❤

my eyes started tearing up so bad when she said “I don’t think I’ll have much longer with her”. i think all pet parents know that pain a little too well, one of the worst heartbreaks in the world.

That poor old girl. You could see she didn’t feel good but the look on her face when her mom is holding her is so peaceful. You did a beautiful job Justin

I saw a Reddit post about a kid who lost his family dog and the vet had went to the home to euthanize the pup. After the dog passed the parents were talking with the vet about how sucky it is that animals live shorter lives than humans. This kid responded saying “Humans live to learn how to love and care. Animals don’t have to live that long because they already know how to do those things which means they don’t need the time to learn.” What that kid said brought me actual peace. Just like animals it’s crazy how intuitive kids can be. I hope this brings someone else peace when they think about an animal that’s passed.

I promise her she's not going to regret those photos. Coming from someone who lost her 16yo cat from cancer. I cherish the photos I have of us

Im glad he pushed a little more for her to take a picture with her dog, her pup doesnt have much time with her disease and she'll appreciate that photo together even more when she is gone.

I didn't plan to cry today. Watching her with her senior pupper, reminds me with me and my own who already crossed the Rainbow Bridge. This so precious. Thank you so much for this.

I respect how she was hesitant to take a photo because she knew it would be posted. Better safe than sorry❤️‍🩹

I'm happy she decided to get a photo. I almost have no photo, and not one great one of me and my dog Henry who died last year (he's on my profile pic). And all because I'm overweight and hate the way I look.
Don't miss your chance to capture a memory guys!

She's going to be so happy to have those pictures. My mother didn't like having her picture taken. It was really hard to find any less than 20 years old for her memorial service. A couple days before the service, my sister found one my niece had taken when she was a toddler. It's the best recent photo we have.

You didn't just take a photo, you captured a moment.

I would've urged her gently to take a picture too. She will appreciate down the line that she had that picture with her old pup.

Oh wow that one brought me to tears. I’ve been missing my little dog so much lately; some of your work just reminds me of him. It’s not a complaint.

I saved my dog when he was 3 months old pup from an abusive neighbour.
He saved my life from being robbed on the street, so I considered him a hero, and we amazingly communicated eachother so well with body language.
When he passed at 17, I was grieving, and realised I had no photo of us together cos I hated any snap of myself, so it was a little regret ... until my nephew gifted me a photo of us together he had secretly snapped a few years back, I was so elated and framed it. ❤
