Beautifully sung -- and wonderful accompaniment playing by the pianist, so sensitive and supportive.

Down by the Sally Gardens
My love and I did meet
She crossed the Sally Gardens
With little snow-white feet
She bid me to take life easy
As the leaves grow on the tree
But I was young and foolish
And with her I did not agree
In a field down by the river
My love and I did stand
And upon my leaning shoulder
She laid her snow-white hand
She bid me take life easy
As the grass grows on the weirs
But I was young and foolish
And now I am full of tears

Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.

In a field by the river my love and I did stand,
And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.
She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs;
But I was young and foolish, and now am full of tears.

Beautiful rendition, both singer and accompanist! Slight mistake in 1st verse - sings "as the leaves grow on the weirs" instead of "as the leaves grow on the tree" "Weirs" is 2nd verse!

for anyone who cares or wants to know he is singing in the key of c major.

as the weirs grow on the weirs? A second take would have been sensible - odd!

He made a mistake with the weirs instead of "tree", and some others things... Still an awesome interpretation!

Better to leave this to the English singers. Listen to Ian Bostridge's version. Ten x better.

Too fast, too staccato, no dynamics and no emotions. Moreover, I don't get why the pianist starts playing before the singer is done with talking.

Ou vous dépêchez-vous comme ça?!… Vous avez un train à prendre?!…

Un peu accéléré, non!...
Je préfère la version plus calme, moins nerveuse!.... mais c’est joli aussi!
