Slow = Pro!? #karting #f1

Yep... I said it. I think overtaking slow drivers is more difficult to than overtaking even pro race car drivers.

Pro drivers who are within .1 and .3s of the ultimate pace will all do pretty similar defensive maneuvers. Likely, they pull over the middle in the brake zone, and you can either send it up the inside or hold the outside for a better exit. You can pretty much predict how it will all play out unless someone makes a sudden mistake.

Slow drivers will be inconsistent and may even change their racing lines corner by corner or lap by lap, so getting around them requires you to make your overtaking decisions on the fly. Reactive driving takes more brain energy than proactive driving 100% of the time.

Your completely right about slow drivers being harder to overtake its even harder for me on a tight track and when they be too aggressive

Some new drivers in my nearby track think that blocking people intentionally is part of the game. They'll literally break on turns in such a way that theres no way you can overtake

So, these slow drivers are basically using the "never let anyone know your next move" strategy unconsciously

even if they are new I still give them a little wave to make sure everyone is happy and not to ruin or make them think that everyone that is more more experienced is rude and potentially make them hate karting.

I always find it hilarious when professional drivers in any tier of the sport think the guy in front of them OWES them an ability to pass

I think it’s super cool that you talk shit to novice drivers. You seem like a great guy

i raced at that track and it’s really nice, the only thing is that the top part is not supposed to slip but it really does

Same sometimes when I played comp COD. Good people are more predictable because they do the right thing. Hard to predict people making crazy decisions.

Was just at the track last week and it was my brothers first time karting. I was behind him when we went out and so I gave him so space so I can build up confidence on the track before I caught up to him, by the time I did, he was impossible to pass, literally just driving in the middle of the track and impossible to pass, I just had to divebomb him and push him into the barrier bc he was making a train behind us😂

I agree with this, as I raced f3 for 2 years and nowadays I do karting with my friends and since they all know the tricks too I can pass them easily, but with the randoms or even my parents, I struggle to get around

That's what I noticed happens specially in a lot of online circles where the best of the best get baffled by the unorthodox and unexpected strategies and maneuvers that players come up with
