Activeon CX Camera quick review

A short review of the ActiveOn CX camera, and a couple short video clips showing normal and time lapse modes. It was overcast when I took it, so I'll upload a brighter day clip later on, but it does give a decent enough idea.

This was also recorded on the Medium Field of View option (it has Narrow, Medium, Wide, and Super Wide options).

I bought this ActiveOn camera on sale at my local drugstore for under $100.
To be honest, its a decent little camera.
I've been using it daily and so far I've been impressed with the quality of both the video and the audio.
It works well underwater, and also for slow motion shots.
For the price, its a good buy.

The one flaw I had was that the tripod mount actually fell off cause the casing broke. I managed to do a temp fix with duct tape.

And for the record, there is a GOLD version of this CX camera, but it 2.5x the price.

Hello, Charles O. Thank you for this instructional which I did not find cheesy at all! I received an Activeon for Christmas and was stumped: the enclosed manual must be printed in #2 font...no way could I read it! You covered the basics well enough that now I know where to start and I thank you very much! (:

Just bought one at BJs for $39 on sale.
Came with an extra battery and some other extras.
I have yet to take it out of the box.

Hello how do you clear the memory in the ActiveOn? Keeps telling me my memory is full and I think I cleared it but nearly have not as it still says I have 12 overs of recording sitting on there some where? How can I clear it?

I got my camera from target online, they shipped me a broken CX that only wanted to work when it wanted to. Took it back to an actual store, exchanged it for another and now I'm totally happy with the $99 purchase! Have you updated your firmware?

Hello, I have a question about the camera I have the same but inefficient or LED lights when I connect the power after removing the battery?

active on as added(dis) or digital image stabilization in the CX model when I upgrade mine the other day through firmware. I saw it in the menu settings. which is pretty cool because it didn't come with it nor does it mention it on the box. the little camera packs a punch for the cost 99 dollars. btw the ( dis) is allways set to on unless u turn it off. the camera will now remember your custom settings instead of resetting to default Everytime you turn it off through the firmware update.

Can I also use this to take videos with my friends that aren't time lapse or on motorcycles or bikes

Thanks so much for the review! I was on the fence over this or an expensive Go Pro with the lcd screen (I'm not tech savy!) I really didn't want to spend $400 on one not knowing if I would be smart enough to figure how to use it, or if I would even enjoy using it. Your video made me go out & buy the Activeon today, it was indeed $119 at kmart! Just curious, are you in New England, it looks like Maine?
