Bombs, Chaos, Terror: Dangers Facing World's First Christian Country

Much of the international attention these days is on Russia and, in particular, on Vladimir Putin's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. But another diabolical situation has been heating up between two former Soviet nations. A disturbing new chapter unfolded last month amid the ongoing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Joel Veldkamp, head of international communications at persecution watchdog Christian Solidarity International (CSI), explained the Sept. 13 event, its implications, and the complex history between the two nations. Veldkamp previously told CBN he was concerned about an Azerbaijani invasion of Nagorno-Karabakh, a small, landlocked and disputed region between the two nations. What unfolded last month, though, was far more pervasive and troubling.

Brothers and sister in Christ, as Christians we have to be prepared for this kind of stuff. There is a great wave if persecution coming for all Christians in the world. So we have to be strong in the Spirit. Let's pray for one another. We will be tested and purified before the Lords coming which is very soon. If we are not strong we will fall away of the faith. One of my best friends growing up was from Armenia. Her family had escaped what happened there must have been 30 + years ago. This is so scary. I’m heartbroken to hear about it and grateful because so many other media sources are ignoring news of certain countries. Thank you for this report. That young lady’s wisdom rings in my ears even though I haven’t seen her much since junior high, when she was new and another friend and I helped her learn English. She said, “show me who your friends are and I’ll show you who you are”. Those words can apply personally, as well as on the stage of international leadership. She was so mature for her age, likely for what her family had been through, and has such a strong character even so young. She made an unforgettable impression. I pray that God shows Armenia mercy and that he saves the Armenians and brings peace and safety to their lands and to those families. May Jesus protect them and shine the light of their culture around the world for help from powers sourced by God.

I can't believe this is happening again. My grandfather Was a Turkish Armenian From Istanbul. My mother was born in America in 1917. I'm not sure about when he came or the circumstances And I never even heard about the genocide until my oldest daughter was in high school and wrote a report about it. Everything was a secret With two 1st generation parents. I am just horrified by this news What on earth can we do to stop all this hatred in the world?
