What an incredible short, i hadn't considered all the points you listed.
This gives me a ton of helpful insight.

During pandemic it was about the same price to build, but now with lumber prices falling - much cheaper to build.

Diy build will always be cheaper but time consuming. If u have the patience and time, diy is always the way to go

I wanted to do it myself, in fact my father had just done one himself albeit it leans like the tower of pisa 😂. He showed me his cost of materials and it was only a little over a 1k more than buying. So i bought instead and got it built in one day. Spent my free time with my family.

I just ordered materials for a 12x16 with osb and lap siding. Spent 3.1k and then ~250 on consumables. Only thing left to buy is paint. Just in case someone wanted some current ballpark pricing.

Save a few thousand, watch a few Youtube video, and do it yourself.

I used to run a vocational program. If your local high school has one go ask them. The kids will figure the plans and BOM. They will have materials delivered and put it up for very cheap. Mine did a 25X25 workshop at my house on a slab. It was half of what I could have paid someone to build, and actually cheaper on materials because they bought them on a school account and can’t be charged tax.

Building it yourself not only gives you cheaper materials and options, but you can build it to fit your likings, your need, and just overall adapt it to what you want

I'm, almost done with my second one. The first one I got too personal using expensive materials and building a bunch of extras, but this second one is a 12x7, im in it for about 350 so far, just about done.

We were taught to believe that mass production made things cheaper. But with those prices, you're better off building it yourself. It'll be the size you need at a considerably lower cost.

During the extremely mild February in northern Wisconsin, I built a 12x16 gambrel style shed with a large loft, rugged 12 foot bench, ALL electrical, roll-up 7 foot wide door, pin style footings in the corners for a total of $3500. Went on the TuffShed website and priced out the same configuration... total came to $10k.
In full disclosure, I also purchased new pneumatic framing nailer, roofing nailer and full sized jack hammer, all NOT included in the $3500 cost. I need a jack hammer and the nailers for another project.

I took a canopy carport 10x20 99 bucks, split it used half of The frame and put a metal roof with over hang to keep rain out on it, shower material plank walls, made a door and i got a water proof shed up ..cheaply

Build, better quality for same price or cheaper. I used 2x6 for my floor joist, while a lot of the smaller shed use 2x4. Cost a little more, but at least the floor won't sag when it's time to resell in the future.

Do they lay a concrete slab and gravel underneath thru a path way?
If so let the boys work! 😊❤

I built the same shed with a Mansard roof for $472.

I built a 14x14x16 horse stall for 600 dollars. I would never by premade anything. Hell, I almost never buy lumber from a store. I own 15 acres of dense woods and a chainsaw and an Alaskan sawmill.

Forget it... It really worth $1, 500 at the most

Much larger shed with better material including foundation, spent about 2k

Tuff sheds cut corners for more profit the framing will not withstand high winds
