Great video as always. I've never thought about the "real mirror" issue here, but a really interesting point! Also loved the T'Kuvma bit at the end! :D _\\//

Nice work again mate! Like that you can acknowledge your personal problems you have with the show - but still give a good breakdown and analysis - also like how you point out the bits and bobs that reference the previous series 👍
Keep up the good work!

Excellent as always

About the List: (I feel like I've been fighting this battle forever)

Archer deserved to be on that list. Starfleet existed before the UFP. Archer was a Starfleet Captain. Throughout Enterprise, he frequently made references about Starfleet Command. He helped create the Federation, but Starfleet already existed, The computer merely answered the request to show him "the most highly decorated captains, living and dead, in Starfleet history." Not Federation History, but Starfleet history. (Also, "Highly decorated" doesn't not necessarily mean the MOST medals, but what the medals themselves are.)

As you said, many folks have asked 2 BIG questions about the list. First is why Decker and Georgiou made the list. Well, Decker would have been an active duty Captain in the DSC era, and you don't make Commodore for hanging around long enough. His service record was never shown, but it is safe to assume that he was quite highly decorated. As for Georgiou, if you go back to, I believe, Ep. 1, they show Georgiou's Ready Room? Office? Quarters? (Not sure which it was) but you actually see some of her awards and medals, so it isn't a stretch that she made the list. Also, she may have received some sort of "Medal of Honor" type award posthumously. (The Majority of U. S. Congressional Medals of Honor were awarded posthumously.) The other question is why isn't Fleet Captain Garth on the list. It never occurred to me, until you said it, that Lorca could BE Garth of Izod. That actually makes sense.

Unfortunately, a large number of folks on a number of pages also asked "Who the hell is Robert April?" but the majority of people did know, and we not only informed them, but buried them under a ton of references about him from Canon sources so they couldn't say that Discovery was inventing stuff not in Canon. (I admit, I was one of those doing the dumping, but when you see the same question asked repeatedly, it just drives you nuts.)

BTW, I fully agree about the D-7. It is established beyond doubt in Canon what a D-7 Battlecruiser looks like. Some things you just don't fool around with. New design, fine, but give it another designation. I wasn't crazy about the fighters, either. As for the mirror thing, just because a technology exists doesn't mean it will always be used. I remember a few scenes in TNG ("Face of the Enemy" comes immediately to mind) where conventional, traditional glass mirrors are used. (Enough said about the mirror)

Sorry this is so long, but sometimes when I get on a roll, it gets hard to stop.(Especially about weird bits of trivia that get lodged in my head. It's a family thing. As my Brother says, we are a virtual fountain of useless information.)

I save watching the episodes to Saturday nights and know I’m enjoying the show when I’m disappointed as each episode ends. Then I have the pleasure of watching your reviews straight after 👏👏

I can let it slide with the Mirror in the bathroom for a lot of reasons.
TNG had mirrors in the bathrooms too as well as using Holodecks for dress or design guidance (more than once) I think Burnham's Holo-Mirror may actually be a "Living area" general display - it may also be able to show the long range com-calls, and also work as an interior intercom hologram generator and perhaps even an entertainment centre or virtual screen - when you want something bigger than a reading padd.
I also think it has some of the limited functions of the holodeck such as the ability to generate a hologram of an outfit so you can see what it looks like before printing it off. as well as the ability to freeze it and rotate it so you can see what the reverse looks like and answer the great question "Does my Bum look big in this ?" yourself.

So no I don't have an issue with a mix of smart tech and dumb tech - any more than I'd object to there being a mix of audio, Hologram and video communication used as they have been using all 3 of them. or at the very least using the com-screens as a part of the hologram interface.

Let's not forget Data said "oh shit" in Generations. So a random "fuck" is not a first, it was just unearned. Data's "oh shit" was earned.

I don't understand what's the problem with the mirrors. I have a laptop, a calc app in the phone and a Casio calculator and use the three all the time. The holomirror is useful to see how some clothes fits you or if you have cellulitis in your butt but if you've a blank wall in front of the sink it's logical to put a glass mirror so you can check your face when you wake up

Given that they name dropped a D7 battle cruiser and it looked nothing like a D7 (not even a modified version of the original design) I'm dreading the moment Discovery hooks up with a Starfleet ship and they call it a Constitution class and bears no resemblance to one!

I'm pretty sure that Archer was the Federation President, I know that he signed the Federation Charter.

archer did not create starfleet he created the federation of planets which is a separate group from the starfleet in Enterprise tv series in fact archer and many officers have said "starfleet" or even "starfleet academy" more than once before the episode where archer anounces the Federation ofPlanets which is a U.N. of space and starfleet is its military branch of sorts.

I agree Discovery is a good show, but still it ain't no Star Trek and definitely not part of the original series or it's 3 spin-offs; TNG, DS9 & Voyager. those Klingon Fighters look more like Stargate's Goau'ld Deathgliders, that creature that feeds or communicates with the spores reminds me of Dune's hyperspace Spice worm/creature that they use to teleport thru out the galaxy. keep up the good work. P.S Discovery is also a Section 31 vessel, always wanted a show based on it, but in the TNG, DS9 & Voyager universe. but is nice seen it at least in this alternative universe.

Thank you for sparing us another generic Trek series, oh great ghost of Roddenberry, for we have have been there, and we have done that, and, lo, we are not worthy of this new Trek, with its great big balls smiting stale, tired, embarrassing norms. Oh, great ghost of Roddenberry, we beseech you, gather those among us, the timid and dull who savour the plastic of Trek, and beat them about the head and neck with the pilot episode of Voyager, until the cry out for release, release, release!
