Hi everyone, we are back with another Smart Home Tour. This is our Lutron Smart Home Tour. These switches are easy to install and setup. However, these Lutron switches are pricey so make sure to watch until the end of the video, to find out if its really worth it! Thanks for watching!

I installed combination of 35 switches and remotes which I use with HomeKit. It was definitely worth the expense and haven't had an issue yet. I consider it an investment in my home. PS. I shopped between Amazon, Lowes, and Home Depot for parts. I save a few hundred bucks between sales and veteran discounts.

I have Lutron motion sensors in my bathrooms, laundry room, walk in closets and garage. I'm thinking about adding Lutron smart switches to the rest of my home along with smart plugs for TVs and floor lamps.

As I retired electrician I would just like to say, if you would
like the Yokes on your switches and other devices distorted even more than shown here,
feel free to use a 1" pneumatic impact gun. This will also guarantee your
screw heads are 100% cammed out so you'll never get them back out again.

Did you have to replace all the boxes with the simple on/off switch or did it fit just snug?

I am looking for dimmers for my room where I have a chandelier with several dimmable LEDs (15w g9) and I would like to make a connection between two Lutron dimmers. One of these dimmers would be at one side of the room (near the entrance to the house) and the other at the other side (near the hallway leading to the kitchen). I searched a lot and came across numerous Lutron dimmer models and in most youtube videos it is not clear which Lutron dimmer model to choose. Important point is that I would not want to use a Pico and they should be compatible with Home Assistant.

Do you have any tips for me about which dimmer model I should use?

Did you have to change you wiring to make the system work? I’ve been told I need to run CAT6 cable to all of my lights which is costly.

I’m looking into Lightwave at the moment and want to know if this is a genuine competitor or if there is a hidden cost in the cabling and modules etc

Why do so many North American Smart home/electrical videos use wire nuts??? Is WAGO not available in North America?

So the cheap wall remotes do not hook up to power? They got batteries?

I recently looked into getting a whole bunch of Lutron switches, and was told that in order to make scenes with them, a Lutron rep/technician needs to come out to set it up. I didn't ask the price, but I'm assuming it's not $0. Did you need to do that with your Lutron system, or did you set this up on your own?

It's also worth mentioning these are not compatible with with all lightbulbs. Just because you add the Lutron switches means it will work well. I found out the hard way. Did it "work" yes, but significant buzzing even though they were dimmable bulbs. Had to switch out all the dimmer bulbs to Lutron compatible ones. The one I cannot figure out how to troubleshoot, is my on off switch for the outdoor light. The light never fully turns off! I have double checked the wiring and everything, nothing makes it go off (aside from pulling out the tab which is not convenient because it is disconnected). Any suggestions?! Thanks!

I have a similar setup with kasa, and it was 200 bucks. that being said, they are using ip addresses. annoying.

That's a nice setup but most people don't have that kind of money. I prefer Wyze smart color bulbs. They're about $20 for 2 bulbs. They have any color, and shade, you want. Plus you can do scenes, routines and control everything by voice or phone. Wyze, to me, is the best option for a smart home. All their products are prices well and the company is run by former Amazon techs that want to make cheaper "ring style" products that do the same, and in some cases, more than other options. Also, i haven't used a wall switch in years. I would rather just talk, or use my phone, to do what i want. I do have to say I'm glad you're not using Apple's homekit, or whatever it's called. I don't like Apple products at all.

I installed wireless switches and you know what, apparently I never opened an app… just manual mode all the time.
