Even in victory, there is a sting in the tale, as they're often is when it comes to the dance of the dragons.

The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. I truly believe Rhaenys and Meleys death was the beginning of the end for Rhaenyra. Though the blacks had many more dragons than the greens the greens had Vhagar whilst most of the black dragons at the time were either unclaimed or too young to go to battle which left Meleys and Caraxes as team blacks 2 main heavy hitters.

Meleys gets literally no credit for the fact that she is the most metal dragon haha.
She is the perfect size. Not so small that she’s puny, but not so large that she’s slow and inefficient like Belarion or Vaghar.
She’s the FASTEST and most agile dragon known to Targaryen history.
She is ferocious. And clearly not afraid (as u can see here).
If I could choose one dragon, I wouldn’t choose Caraxes or Vaghar or anyone else. Meleys seems like the most efficient one.

The Queen who never was might have died that day. But she took out Aegon as well as far as his ability to live. Armor melted into his skin among other problem things. Likely unable to use his manhood as well. Cristian Cole just brought about the end of the Targs ability to hold on to power. As did the HighTowers who pretty much were lucky to have not been wiped out.

Aegon II's day were pretty much numbered after this battle. Baela and Moondancer just were the final nail in the coffin.

Sunfyre is the most toughest and hardcore dragon in the dance surviving Maelys, killing Greyghost, and Moondancer. No other dragon has seen more action. Ironic considering Sunfyre is the most beautiful dragon battered and suffered till death

this is the moment im most excited to see in house of the dragon. Rhaenys was such a chad. Do you think she could of won if it was just sunfire?

At least Aegon fought for his crown. Rhaenrya had one of the biggest dragons in the kingdom but did nothing. At the bare minimum, she could have allowed Joffrey to do patrols on Tyraxes.

Rook's Rest was arguably the catalyst for the decline of the Targaryens. The moment the dragons danced above in the skies, their real power crumbled. Rhaenys, one of the most experienced dragonriders was killed and Aegon, with his dragon severely injured and his face mostly scared, could no longer project his strength. It was the point of no return for both factions and brought them back down to the ground like mortals.

This was what I like to call a “ pointless battle”.The only reason Rhaenys came was because the lord there was under siege and begged help since he had declared for Rhaenyra.And rhaenyra decided to send just 1 person and 1 dragon there.And the greens knew this, that she was arrogant, lazy, too sure of victory and unlikely to send her sons to fight since she had just lost Lucerys.Rhaenyra fell right into their trap.
Because at the end of the day the lord and his land got torched and KO’d anyway, meaning Rhaenys’s efforts were wasted.
Sure Sunfyre and Aegon got taken out for the war’s majority, but for the blacks they lost:
-A dragon.
-A dragonrider.
-The strong support of the velaryons as Corlys was very pissed at Rhaenyra for this and while he remained loyal, it wouldn’t have been the same.
-One of the most experienced royals in the realm who had very good politics and wise advice and experience in being trained to rule, as well as the only other dragonrider beside Daemon who was experienced and capable of fighting and defeating green dragons, with Syrax a lazy overfed overweight dragon( much like her rider in the war), Jace’s being young and small, Aegon 3’s being too tiny and barely able to carry Aegon once, Baela’s little green dragon, and that’s it.
Meanwhile greens:
-Aegon is injured but survived and was able to walk again.
-Aemond unscathed and now king regent with Vhagar also fine.
-Sunfyre injured but then takes down grey ghost, and moondancer, ensuring Rhaena is the last black to ever have a dragon.
-Minimal losses of green army.

So many different opinions love it! And at the end nobody was the winner both sides lost so many only to leave a child on the throne with no family (viserys believed to be dead at the time ) what world building!! So much fictional history

A victory for the Greens but this plan was perhaps a mistake. For what ? When Rhaenys flies on Meleys, only one dragon remains capable of fighting in Dragonstone : Syrax. If I had been Hand of the King, I would have instead used the attack on Rook's Rest as a decoy and sent Vhagar and Sunfyre against the Velaryon fleet and Driftmark.

But it's the Targaryen who had the last laugh when aegon the younger took over when the other aegon was poisoned by clubfoot n corlys but both aegons has sad named green aegon was the crippled n black aegon was called the broken king but overall Its a tragic story
