The problem with being poor is it takes up all your time, the problem with being rich is it takes up everybody else’s time !

I'm seventy-nine, I failed the eleven-plus, and although my parents were disappointed they didn't make an issue of it, however, I felt it. I was ashamed, it hurt that because I got certain questions wrong I would be excluded from joining some of my friends at their new school. I went on to build a life outside the world of degrees and titles and in my own small way made a difference in the world I am part of, but I know of many others who having been literally branded as second class refused to join the new world and lived off it rather than contributing to it.

Not sure who said this’ A person who believes we can keep a finite system in constant growth is either a madman or an economist’

First rate.

The other aspect is the effect of inequality upon brain biochemistry (neurochemistry): inequality increases the level of stress hormones (such as the steroidal molecule, cortisol) in the blood streams of everyone, 'rich', poor middle income alike. Even if not equally alike.

Since cortisol, for example, is generated in our bodies on the same biochemical pathways as the sex hormones, testosterone and the estrogens, it is my speculation that stress influences the 'natural' functionings of such sex hormones.

Detrimentally.

The invisible hand of capitalism, if only it worked so objectively. In the real world vested interests monopolistic tendencies skew the equilibrium. Government has to regulate in order to prevent market domination and promote competition.

Endless talk about capitalism but speakers cannot suggest something as simple as mandatory accounting/finance in the schools. Double entry accounting is 700 years old. Is it more difficult than trigonometry? This could have been done since Sputnik.

his talk does not make clear his definitions of capitalism or even equality. Are there some non capitalist countries in the world at present he thinks are OK as they have managed to inflict poverty on all?

How does a PoG cover politics finance and history . He doesn't . Money and so capitalism will rule the world until scarcity ends .

After watching this I think a considerable factor in wealth inequality would be students getting into long term debt to get an education and getting this nonsense in return, only to find it is a very skewed view of how capitalism actually works in the real world. They should demand a refund!

Brexit is a reestablishment of democracy in Britain and a turn away from Capitalism, yet Dorling opposes Brexit or at least says it was foolish.
