The live version of stage fright was a masterpiece when it came out. I can't describe this in a positive light at all.

Hearing Joe Elliot's voice in the beginning was one of the weirdest feelings I've ever had.

Joe still sounded good live in 2011 (Mirror Ball live album), but 2013 and counting, omfg

Years of screaming, smoking and drinking has killed his voice. Very sad for me. They are my favorite band still but unfortunately they won't see the success they had when Steve was around. He has a great voice when he's singing in his normal range.

He's singing soprano or falsetto to make up for when he was screaming it back in the day, his voice is shot :(

As fascinating as I find it to hear Joe's voice effectively completely isolated from the rest of the mix like this, whoever mixed this should be fucking shot. I can't believe that this is a mix that someone worked on and decided was fine to be released to the public in any fashion.

Other people have said it, but it sounds very off here because A) the mix is horrendous, maybe it's just a weird raw recording or they tried to bring the vocals out but that's definitely not what it should sound like, and B) Joe is like 60 of course all the high notes are gonna sound thin. At least there is a touch of rasp in there and it's never off pitch by much. I mean, the original song is basically all controlled screaming so I don't think this is that bad.

I'm only guessing, but it sounds like Joe is singing most of this song in his natural 'head voice'. Joe was once a master of the 'screaming' vocal; this is when you restrict the air flow to create the power and depth in the voice. In 'head voice', you don't strain and air passes freely over the vocal chords, but there's very little 'depth' to the voice. Pyromania has some exceptionally difficult rock songs to sing and it's suited to a certain style of singer, such as Brian Johnson and Sammy Hagar, e.g. check out Dreams from '5150'! It's only natural that Joe is not able to sing in that same screaming style anymore and this way is a more manageable alternative, albeit less pleasing to the ear. Hey, we got a good 10 to 15 years of Joe at his peak I think. It's just a shame that Joe's definitive vocal style is one he cannot quite recreate as he gets older.

What the hell is "dead flatbird" on the kick drum?

This one of the great bands ever. They are still on stage playing perfectly. The mix on the vocals is not right. Hear not a flat note and the band is totally Def Whallin'. Def Leppard is a dedicated rock and roll band that was on top in their prime. I can't understand how bands hold together that long.

Wtf happened to Def Leppard’s live guitar tone, I missed the hard rock 80s guitar sound, now it’s this distortion stuff. Listen to their live in the round and you will see
