FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW: Angelman syndrome is a condition caused by a change in a gene and it causes delayed development, problems with speech and balance, mental disability, and, sometimes, seizures.
Many people with Angelman syndrome smile and laugh often. They tend to be happy and easy to excite

Nice job. You've worked out what keeps your precious child safe, and it doesn't hurt that it helps the other kids too.
Edit: they're all precious. I should have clarified that.

We use a giant piece of cardboard with a pool noodle to make it snug so that it goes all the way up because our kiddo likes to throw things as well 😅

Pay for a real car divider that sheet of plexiglass is dangerous. At least frame it with something soft and tough.

This is super dangerous. Anything not secured in a car will become deadly in a crash. That sheet is NOT properly secured. In a crash, it will likely come loose, shatter, ect, and hurt someone if not kill them. I cannot get over how dangerous that is.

Go to a garage and ask them to mount it. They'll use mounting brackets (heavy duty) to secure it. They'll shape it to the car for you. In the event of an accident, it will reduce the risk of becoming a guillotine. This will then become a declarable modification, ensuring you pass all tests equal to an MOT (UK annual car safety check) where you live.

Kudos for coming up with such a brilliant idea! We use this for taxi's and bus drivers in the UK. Its smart to use it for this safety purpose. Well done.

Like the idea but in a car accident that piece would seriously injure or kill somebody

The bungee cord wouldnt do anything to hold it in an accident, and those edges could very easily lascerate or sever a limb with enough force. It's a great concept but it needs some serious safety additions. Always consider the event of an accident when adding big heavy additions inside your vehicle.

Edit: Because people keep debating and asking for alternatives, I have done some research. A safe divider made specifically for cars can be found on Amazon for anywhere between $16 and $50. There are options made of mesh, if being able to see through it is pivotal. The only way the plexiglass MIGHT be truly safe would be to permanently bolt it directly to the frame of the car, round off all of the corners, and cover the edges in something to fully cushion them.

As it is now, however, it is dangerous. There are dozens of ways that sheet could injure or kill the kids it's meant to protect. My original comment was never meant to attack Mom for her solution. Simply to advise that it isn't the safest.

Id look into a fine nylon netting like a flywire, they make kits to stop dogs getting in the front. But that plexi glass would be a weapon in an accident

The idea of a backseat divider is a great idea. Just one thing I don't want to be a spoilsport but is it really safe? I saw backseat dividers before and those were made from foam and padded. Also they could be securely strapped down with a seat belt.

i have no idea what that is, but the little dude is having the time of his life and that means you are doing a great job of rising your kids

Oh my gosh with a bungee cord!?!? Mama I comend your ingenuity and desire to keep your kiddos safe while driving, but in the case of an accident that is sooo dangerous.

Great idea but put something on the edge like piping installation or colorful pool noodle 😊

Imagine getting bisected by that thing in a fender bender when the totally strong Bungie cord slips and the plexiglass gets launched forward

Lovely to hear people talk about this syndrome, I worked with a child that had no sense of fear or danger. And have never heard of it since ❤

Hopefully you change your mind with all these comments. I came to say the same thing pretty much about the Plexiglas.
As soon as you started talking about it i was like no no no
Hope you are ableto find something that works just as well and 100x safer 👍🏻

The divider is a neat idea. But I think perhaps getting something professionally installed would be safer than a bungee cord plexiglass divider. Especially since I'm friends with EMTs and hospital workers and I hear nightmare Trigger warning ...

Like hair claw clips embedded in 💀 cause they were wearing it during a car accident.

I was in a car accident at 15 and hit the front seat with my face and the small plastic part on the back of the seat 1/2 tore off my nose and caved in my face. I had to get major reconstructive surgery and that was a stock part of the car. I still can't smell things. I'm in my late 30s. And small random plastic and a soft back of a seat f-ed me up
