I got Watapon and I'm still mad 20 years later.

Blue Eyes Shining Dragon requiring you to play a card not even released has to be one of the most WTF things Konami ever did

When Anubis loses the duel, he transforms into a giant monster and sends Inferno Tempest & Fallout, to destroy Yugi's & Kaiba's decks but then they just pick Shinning Dragon off the ground and use it anyway. Effectively meaning all Anubis did was knock their cards onto the floor.

Blue-eyes shining dragon looking so cool really locked in my love for yugioh as a kid.

Even had this janky toy of it with moveable wings.

Anyone else think Rare Metal Dragon looks like a Rhyhorn?

I think if Peten had an "If... you can" effect it would definitely have seen some play in Chaos or synchro decks.

"Theinen, meet the Pharaoh; and Pharaoh, meet your doom!" *laughs maniacally*

It is a shame we haven't gotten any new versions of cards from this movie. I like the Anibus cards and the way that female monster opened her mouth was terrifying.

For newer players:
Sangan/Witch of the Black Forest to trigger Watapon was prior to an errata. Their effects now say that you can't activate cards with the added card's name until the end of the turn, but this wasn't always the case

I remember when someone got blue-eyes shining, and then try to make it “well if I get 3 blue eyes out I should be able to make him” and the many lunch debates thereafter.

Learning that Watapon and Return from a Different Dimension were in the same promo pack is...odd. It's like finding a diamond in a slag heap.

It should be mentioned that Theinen‘s 35, 000 ATK wasn’t a random value. It’s the sum of its ATK plus all monsters' in Anubis‘s and Kaiba‘s GY.

The thing is, I actually DO play Sorcerer of Dark Magic in my Dark Magician Deck since it effectively shuts down most trap cards (except counter traps) and is rarely ever a brick in my personal build. Pairing it with Secret Village of the Spellcasters means your opponent is effectively locked out of their own backrow.

I went to the theater after the movie was out for several weeks asked if I could buy left over movie promos. Imagine my shock when I received a box full and they said, "just take them"

I was a kid when I went to see the movie with my dad. I remember my dad getting Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon, while I got Sorcerer of Dark Magic. He noticed he got a holo and I didn’t, so he gave it to me. I have it framed to this day. 🥺🙏🏻 One of my favorite cards/memories.

Fun fact, Sorcerer of Dark Magic has reversed atk/def of Dark Sage

I remember my parents buying me the dvd which also had the promo pack and I really wanted the sorcerer of dark magic, was so happy when I pulled it haha, that bad boy was put in all my decks and ended up with tape wrapped around the top because it started to peel 😂😂

Despite being the one no one wanted, Watapon was and can currently be used in an entirely NR FTK in Master Duel through use of Tethys, Goddess of Light

I pulled Watapon and was thrilled lol. I still have it. My childhood deck didn't have Ultimate or Spellcasters so it was the only card I could use. Being adorable was a bonus.
