Rep. Katie Porter asked this official the same demanding questions presented on the 6-page application for the food stamp program he oversaw

In US news and current events today, Rep. Katie Porter posed some of the same questions found on Maine's SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Application for Benefits to Sam Adolphsen, Policy Director at the Foundation for Government Accountability. SNAP provides nutrition benefits to supplement the food budget of lower-income families.

Watch to find out how Adolphsen responds.

“What does this have to do with....”

Fool you oversaw this program for 4 years and you didn’t know why she was asking you these questions

"I'm not going to answer that".
You absolutely would answer that if you were disabled and it was the only way to feed your children.

Strange how the US can make a business out of the poverty.

The look on his face at one point I was really expecting him to say this none of your business, but you can see just when he realized he recognized some of the questions lol!

i was on snap, and my benefits were getting ready to end. i was told to expect a phone call at a set time on a specific day to see if my benefits were going to continue or not. i waited and waited that day and didn’t get a call. they called the next day at a different time, and i wasn’t able to answer due to a doctor’s appointment. since i missed the phone call that came on the wrong day at the wrong time, my benefits were discontinued, and i had to reapply.

I am more impressed by Katie Porter ever single time I see her speak in the House. She does not back down, and that's a spectacularly rare quality in our political representation.

Unemployed for first time in my life, applied in Maine, went through all that for $16 month, also had to answer weekly/monthly questions as well to continue benefit, I stopped, just what they wanted me to do

Love how it's easier to get a gun in this country than government assistance and basic healthcare.

He doesn't need to know his financial situation, I'll bet he hires someone else to worry about that.

I used to have to get verification for hours worked from my boss for child care assistance and Medicaid. It was so humiliating to ask them to sign off on those papers.

The things this country take people through that legitimately needs these programs. Plus, I know that my state of WA only allows for about $1.33 per meal per day for SNAP benefits. I wonder who can live off $3.99 per day and survive. Most of our elderly are on special diets because of health issues. I mean, how cold can we be as a nation? But we definitely find a way to finance that 20+ year war(s) and giving tax breaks of 1.5 trillion to the 1% and corporations. It seems like that money just falls out of the working and middle class pockets somehow.

God Bless Katie Porter. WE NEED HER. She is one of the few THINKING PEOPLE in politics. Someone who is out there FOR US, not for the corporate kick-back.
