So it's time to texture! In Part 1 we modeled our SciFi piece, and it's time to get this thing looking good.
We'll be texturing in Substance Painter, and I'll give a full explanation of what I am doing (even if you're a complete beginner).

Could use the polygon fill tool along with the white mask to hide the indents rather than painting manually

You can press the x key for flipping between white and black. Thats a gamechanger when working on masks

Nice series. It's cool to see the design side of texturing too. One area you could improve is to use triplanar or planar mapping for some painted strips, like at 13:00 when you were struggling with the placement of that strip detail. With triplanar mapping, you could find a square alpha and just move it around as a mask in a fill layer to very easily position the detail. Anyway, good video nonetheless :)

Also, you should try orthographic mode to make placement easier.

Thanks for such huge tutorials. i'm switching to Blender and very appreciate such courses !
concerning this lesson, i don't get why uv's are broken when exporting fbx with bevel modifier on top of it ?
