Local Steel worker here. Coils are and stay hot for days. DAYS. And I am not talking by day 3 you can lay on it. By day 3, you can finally stamd beside it safely. There is a rule here that you must ware natural fabric. Cotton and wool. While they can catch fire, they won't melt on you. Standing beside those coils can be hot enough, you will catch fire. Also never stand down from a coil. They start rolling. You won't stop it.
