Had a Prince of Tone and loved it. Wanted to trade up to the King but didn't want to wait a year and a half. So I got on the waiting list but bought myself a nice RullyWow Queen of Bone 2 build in the meantime. I was running my Prince at 18v anyway, so the QoB2 is perfect with a built in 9 to 18v charge pump. If you're on the impossibly long waiting list, maybe look out for a good clone build. I A/B'd my QoB against the Prince and it held its own admirably.

I am ready to order having waited two years on the list. For an amateur like myself I am really liking some of your riffs. The ending sequence was super cool. Time to practice.

I've been on the KoT waiting list since 2018.

I have a KoT v4 with higher gain mod on both sides (it's not a big difference from the normal gain.) I just tried it on 18v for the first time and love it - it has a more subtle and pleasing distortion, so the extra headroom on the op-amps before they distort is very useful. If you have a KoT v4, it should be fine on 18v. Earlier versions might not be, check with AnalogMan before subjecting older versions to 18v.

I don't know what amp you're playing through, but this demo makes the pedal sound more harsh and noisy than my KoT. It's probably that dude's pants.

Can't believe you wouldn't also change a dip switch to let us hear the distortion part of the pedal, and then boost that.

I prefer my 'The Duelist' to my King of Tone, not that it's a bad pedal, of course. In fact I've found my old MXR GT OD spends more time on my gig board than my KoT... It's been said over and over again but the hype of a pedal/amp/guitar far outweighs the reality. You have unique hands and unique ears, so use them with whatever kit you have, and be happy. Good luck.

You guys should really re-cut this with Andy playing.

I've had this pedal for about a year. I don't think it's anything special. The overdrive side is average (I never use it), while the clean boost side is clear and clean. But my Xotic Super Clean boost pedal I think does a better job of boosting and thickening the sound. Neither the Xotic or KOT muddy the low end - both provide great note separation. So I don't think there is anything special on the clean boost side of the KOT - stop with the stupid hype. My recommendation would be the Xotic Super Clean as an alternative. And by the way, I also have the Klon KTR and Sick As Overdrive, and a few other overdrive pedals, including the Keeley Phat Mod and J Rockett Blue Note and Majestic. The KLON KTR is rubbish, and the Sick As is not too far behind. The Phat Mod and Blue Note I use, and like them. I also have the Tone King Duellist and Vintage Fuzz. The Vintage Fuzz is awesome, the Duellist looks cool but takes forever to get a good sound out of it if you can actually find a good sound out of it. Too frustrating really! Hate it!

Take a good compressor (Wampler Alter Ego) a J. Rockett .45 Cal and put it before a J. Rockett Blue Note Pro. Adjust to your taste and find out how they all add to each other for Marshall tones.

We are playing a really expensive pedal on guitar that nobody owns. Bummer. Would love to hear Andy on this one.

I remember my gold Klon I bough years ago for $450 hit $1000. All my pedals are on a board which takes them out of the loop and keeps you from stomping on them. I sold it and got a Nice Proco mint Rat with the tone knob for $300 and now it is over $1000 so I rarely play it. The Marshall Blues Breaker I had iirc was $100 now %400+.
Other than display or bragging rights, these are to dam expensive to risk frying one. I am yet to find ANY of these Holy Grail pedals I cannot use any number of basic overdrives to nail their tones fooling the best of them.

Like $800, and a five year wait?...I'll take two.

"Analogman keeps production numbers low"... No, they have a huge waiting list. They build them as quickly as they can manage

Pity this guy's hit is so hard, you actually can't hear what this thing can do dynamics wise in almost any EQ situation - that being it's strongest point. This here in fact sounds like any bit better OD pedal. Pity.

so many whiners. i appreciate this demo. for one, i don’t own the gear Andy uses. heck, Andy doesn’t use a pick so why compared this dude’s pants to Andy’s socks?

I find it ironic that such a rare and iconic pedal is being demonstrated by.... whatever this guy is doing. Although I did laugh at the attempt to get jazzy at around 3:30 lol
