Stack Watch by Ellusionist | My Professional Opinion

The Stack Watch by Ellusionist is an interesting evolution of use of the mnemonica stack by Juan Tamariz. The Stack Watch allows the user to have a quick reference to the order of the stack with a short glance at the watch. Ellusionist has really come up with an interesting and innovative project.

Peter Turner is an absolute giant in the mentalism world and if he's put his stamp of approval on the Stack Watch that's good enough for me.

Will I be picking up the Stack Watch? Probably not this go round but if Ellusionist comes out with a more elegant and subdued version of the stack watch, I'm likely going to pick one up. You could spend 74 dollars on a regular plain old watch that doesn't do anything but why not one that helps you with the Mnemonica stack?

This is just a hot take but from what I've seen so far, I really like this and I think it's going to make a lot of magicians really happy.

I pre-ordered it as soon as I saw it. I've not really gotten into stack much at all but, as a visual learner, I think this will give me a big head start.

The markings are too small to shrink them to a smaller factor. They're really the bare size minimum, and it takes playing around with it to get used to focusing and lining it up. People will complain about how hard it is to see, but the reality is that after some time, you get used to looking at it and can read it efficiently. I have bifocals and can still read it just fine. Just like mnemonica itself, you can't get away with using it before you've practiced.

Hay man great video and love your channel. Im a good friend of pete and was lucky enough to get to play with a prototype before it was announced. I loved it instantly, they watch suits my style. And I personally know mnemonica and use it alot. But like u say now again again i have to think slightly as over time i forget bits. So this is just a great thing to have as a double checker or even to take the cutting to next level. Like pete says if it helps me concentrate on performance more then thats a win for me!

It's a pretty expensive crib. Someone makes stickers to go on the bottom of the tuck case that works just as well and are much cheaper.

The reason I am not getting the watch is because it doesn't have numbers or letters on it from what David from magicorthodoxy stated on his review on the watch

I bought it on pre-order and it came today. Out of the box I’d give the quality 4 out of 10 rating, just because it’s a little cheaply feeling around the band and clasp. Also my personal preference, I thought it would be more of a flat/matte black but it’s a shiny polished look on most parts of the watch. Also at first when I tried to turn the bezel it would only turn a quarter of the way around, I had to force it to turn 360 degrees but now it turns freely and squeaks at a certain point in the rotation. Maybe it will work itself out, if not I’ll return it. Now I could be the only one with the faulty watch but we’ll see, as I said it feels cheaply made I wouldn’t pay $75 for it and $52 is pushing it. Now for the instruction part of how to use the watch due to the coronavirus I can’t give you a fair rating but I can tell you that Peter Turner does an excellent job of explaining how to use it, some effects/routines such as the popular Burglas effect(his version not the original), and some mental forces. He also goes on to say that when the coronavirus situation has calmed down, he will film more instruction because he can explain the nuances that goes with using the watch in performance because he’ll actually have spectators interacting. So I guess I can give it a rating on utility and instruction. I’d give it a 7 out of 10. I think I’ll make a video some time next week if I have some free time.

I probably won't get this because I use a stack that isn't Mnemonica. The other big problem I have with this is that it has STACK printed on the dial, guess what comes up when you google "stack watch"?

Not for me. Style of the watch is not for me. Also spinning the watch during a performance is not something I want to worry about. There is enough already

I’m not really interested in it. I love stack work and so, but I feel that I don’t need it at the moment, I’m doing fine without it, even though it’s always good to have a safety net plus it can get us to do some maths faster maybe. I just feel like it’s not such a useful tool, memory is just fine for me at the moment.
However I don’t understand how it can get so much hate among the community. I mean ok it remains at the « just a pretty cool idea not more » for me but nothing that justifies that.
I’m also a little less fond of the marketing of it that presents it as the new big revolution in magic, and how everybody at E seems to conveniently not know the stack. Sounds a little too much to me.

Still a good idea though !

I got it hoping to make acaan easier.... Came It is almost impossible to see card or minute even if you have 2020 vision... It's a nice looking watch but can't recommend it for magic
