Elden Ring - They were almost even more annoying

The Vulgar Militia are pretty obnoxious already, they hardly need much help.

I had found the unused bear traps and was talking about them to another modder, Dropoff, who had been looking into dummied out objects already and was able to tell me what maps had leftover placements for them. I realized from there that they seemed to have a connection to the Vulgar Militia, which made sense, all things considered.

Not gonna lie I was expecting "they apparently weren't always meant to be this small" to be followed by "they were originally even smaller".

These guys only come in two extremes "Less bothersome than a baby crab" or "Absolute hellspawn"

The biggest mystery I have about the Militia is why they have an affinity for Bestial Incantations. They are the only enemy to utilize them in the game besides Gurranq, they can be found plentifully outside the Bestial Sanctum, and some of them even have their weapons infused with the power of the Rune of Death. I wonder if a few of them decided to serve Gurranq during the Shattering and he assigned them to protect two important locations (The Sanctum, where he resides, and the Forbidden Lands, which leads to the only path to reach the Rune of Death).

The possible use of bear traps in Northern Caelid explains the rune bear fight in that area. It seemed odd that such a creature was in Caelid. Perhaps the militia were hunting it?

The first time I swung my sword while riding Torrent after getting jumped by these freaks and caught one of them as he leapt at me, he went flying like a golf ball. That was the first time I said "I love this game" out loud while playing Elden Ring.

I like that after making Scarlet Rot comeback into Souls universe, after making poison caves, after making giant bears with screams, after making golems with auto-locking arrows, after making Ordina challenge, after making FOUR different questlines in every of which we must see our close friend die - or be killed by us, after covering another Anor Londo in slowing Scarlet swamps and after the Malenia incident Myazaki turned to the bear traps and said "No. That would be too frustrating"

The weirdest part of these guys to me is there smoke bomb "attack." It seems like it should have broken your lock on when they use it, or at least that would have made it more impactful. As it is, though, it just feels dumb when they use it but you can still clearly see exactly where they are because you've locked on to them.

These guys have given me an unreasonable amount of grief during my time in Elden Ring, it's both reassuring and frightening to know that they could have been even worse.

When you said that the bloodstained bear traps behaved differently, the first thought that went through my head was that, once the regular bear traps bit the player, they would get the taste of blood and start chasing after you.

No such luck, it seems.

I legitimately thought the reason the militiamen were so short was because they were really smart demi-humans. No I will not tell you how I came to that conclusion.

Meeting these guys the first time made me laugh hysterically. They murdered me while I was giggling "its just a lil guy"
