BONUS COMMENT LORE: The Kaiden Sellswords appear to be inspired by horseback warriors that roamed the Eurasian Steppe long ago. @Quelaag will have a video up soon going into more detail!

I just love how cohesive Elden Ring’s world is. Everything in it has a reason to be there.

I always assumed they were hired by Godrick to bolster his depleted army.

I always assumed they were the ones forcing the nobles to search.

I can't be the only one who cosplayed a Kaiden Sellsword in at least the first few hours. Such an interesting background for an ultimately forgettable enemy, and an easily obtainable, lightweight armor to boot.

The Kaiden riders look so cool and it's a real shame there aren't more of them in the world. They only seem to be in Limgrave and even when you get to the Mountain top of the Giants, there's no big camp or village where you can find more of the Kaiden Warriors. I wish there were more variety and lore to them.

There are dead Kaiden Sellswords in the Highroad Cave in Limgrave, curious location as it contains ruins and a golem boss. They are clearly guarding the nobility, who are themselves searching for something, probably whatever scraps of power they can find.

I absolutely love their Norse-Slavic armour, one of the best sets in the game!

The nobles vainly swore to never return until they found grace, so they are cursed to search forever.

The kaiden humbly swore to just do their job, so they are cursed to search forever.

Shoulda thread the needle.

Thanks for continuing the formula, it’s refreshing to get small tidbits of lore without a 20-30 minute massive video

One minor thing I'd like to point out: The Wandering Noble's are not undead. They do not take bonus damage from Litanny of Proper Death or other Holy Weapons, unlike actual undead in this game. They are not classified as undead in the gamefiles.

What's sad is the Wandering Nobles are a product of the Blessing of the Erdtree giving them eternal life, but not eternal youth. The latter may be a result of the shattering.

TL:DR, The Wandering Nobles are not dead, just old.

These are getting me to want to play elden ring again

From what I can tell they are based off the Varagians that fought for Byzantine Empire. They are viking mercs which were very common in history

Was sad that the Kaiden home town isn't in ER, but mentioned only. The amount of land west of Castle Sol that's on the map, yet can't even get to, would be a place for a new town or castle/city in the frozen plains. Like an ER version of Irythil from DS3.
