A lot of the traps were not supposed to kill, just to injure, so it took another 2 people to carry the injured meaning 3 people couldn't fight properly.

They also had tunnels under the ground from their rebellion against the French which allowed them to disappear and reappear to get the advantage and US soldiers were forbidden to replicate these tactics to save public image.

My father was in Vietnam he passed away the day after Christmas of 2022. He told me about a lot of these traps. He specifically said that they would nail the snake to doorways so that the snake was injured and irritated. Therefore immediately striking any heat that came near it. Just tossing that out there.
